thing you say?

Today when my daughter came home I told her I had "scloored the frub". She knew I meant "scrubbed the floor".

Yes, my 84-year old mother and I have unintentional conversations like that often after a hard day of shopping for groceries and household good. Neither one of us really like to shop all that much, but we do have a lot of laughs over our tranliterated words. Thanks for sharing your experience. You made me smile.

Some people naturally have a gift for hearing meaning and words no matter what even accents.

I have a varied background from growing up in the miltary and doing PR work as a teen which allows me to understand many speaking accents when co workers are lost.

It is a gift to be able to comprhend and save co worker embarassment and be a good speaker to communicate.

Be glad your daughter seems to have the same type of good listening skills.

yes i do. My brother and my closest friend. They alway's know what i am saying . I will get so frustrated and start tumbeling out word's that aren't word's and they get me. It is very comforting to me though. we do get some laugh's out of it. I have MS and some of the side effect's are mixing up my central nervous system and speach, so something that would be scary to me isn't because they stil get me. lol. Enjoy it

I am a word mixer-upper from way back and my best friend, my husband and my brother, are about the only ones who do understand when I mess up. They call it Coley-speak.

Yes, my mom! She always seem to understand me, even if I say it all wrong. I also noticed, I seem to understand my girls the same way. I guess it's just a mom thing!

Well I can't point out just one phrase. But i have realized that me and my father have our own language abotu everything. My mother or my friends can not understand us when we talk to each other. It is cool and funny, yet scary.
