So my friend Elena (she's Jewish) was watching R.R.'s new TV show & she kept telling me how she can tell Rachael is Jewish. I always thought she was Italian..... Elena then took a vote of everyone in our dorm she could find (wound up about 50%/50%) to guess if she is Jewish or not.
Anyway I never had Jewish friends before coming to college & maybe it's a little culture shock? but I am wondering a few things:
1. why do Jewish people sometimes get mistaken for Italian, or Italian for Jewish? I've wondered this for a while but didn't want to insult anyone so didn't ask.
2. Why is it that SOME Jewish people seem really interested in other people' ethnicity? Like this same girl, (Elena), when I tell her I met someone new, she will immediately ask "What's her last name?" , then "Is she Jewish?"
3. Is any dark eyed, dark haired European (whose name is not obviously Italian, or Irish, etc.) labeled as possibly Jewish ? (by those that label, not me!)

The website jewornotjew is a website, which tells you about celebs, whether it be sports stars, movie stars, television stars, music stars, writers, and basically any famous people out there, whether they are Jewish or not. They said Rachael Ray IS NOT Jewish. I have seen on another website that she IS Jewish. Sooo, it is a mystery. The jewornotjew site would seem to be correct, as that is all they investigate, who is OR isn't Jewish. They say if your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish. Maybe her mother is Jewish?

de Laurentiis is Italian and so a good distance as Rachae Ray, I say that is not suitable see you later as your a fan! i won't be able to actual ever remember thinking "oh, German" as quickly as I pay attention the notice Jewish with ONE EXCEPTION, and that's Anne Franck. era. in any different case, i do no longer think of of a Jewish seem, till they talk of Hasidic Jews, etc.

she looks italian to me. jewish people always want to know who is jewish, because jews feel a natural connection with other jews and are always proud to see them succeed. it's a bit prejudiced, but all religions do the same. even atheists have a "celebatheists" web site so they can all know which celebrities share their beliefs.

I watch 30 min meals all the time. rachel ray has mentioned several times that she is jewish. jewish people are complicated people. just take them as they are.
