Lots of vegetables and lean meat. Low-fat or fat-free dairy products. Eat in smaller portions 5-6 a day (or every 3 hours). Exercise.

I know that you're not going to like this answer, but I am going to tell you anyways. The simplest diet in the world is to burn more calories than you intake. I am a culinary student, and have had to exercise more since entering culinary school. It starts with eating only until you're satisfied, not eating until you're full. When you find yourself reaching for the candy jar while watching tv, go for a bag of trail mix, or some other item.

I heard that Pasta and riceis a good food for losing weight. Along with Noodles is another good food as long as you don't have heavy sauces or a lot of meat. Salad is good but steer away from the cream based dressings like ranch and stick to oil based ones like italian.

for a diet to work you have to exercise. but you don't want to get rid of all the yummy foods you like. Just cut don't on the frequency and portion size. Good Luck.

vegetables are the way to go, get some of those frozen mixed vegetables you can eat half a bag and they're hardly any calories. As far as meat grilled chicken breasts are probably the best and just use something low calorie as a dipping sauce.

When you go to the store, only buy healthy things. Dish up your plate then take half off and put it in a dish for tomorrow. Also, I read that if you have something vinegary before you eat, it helps to stabalize your blood sugar and you won't feel hungry so soon.
Good luck, you're not alone.
