Walking is NOT as effective as jogging!
Jog for 30 minutes and see how you sweat after. Then compare that to walking 30 minutes.
Jogging is by far the best cardio activity you can do.
With sprinting, you are not maintaining your fat burning heart rate for the full 30 minutes.

I have found that a combination of walking somewhat briskly and then jogging is the most helpful. I typically do 2 miles mixing the jogging and the running together. I saw results very quickly. When I only walk, I feel good about the exercise, but my body really does not change.

According to the research walking has the same benefits as jogging, only no impact on your knees and back. If you walk fast, and I mean fast, you can get the same benefits as running. Sprints are a different story, these are anaerobic, and in a different category altogether. You wouldn't want to do these unless you were at a plateau and needed to step it up, and your heart would need to be in good shape too.
