A large part is you are under eating. That is common sense. Also you are eating after 6 at night...Come on now, please tell me your smarter then this. Okay, lets go back to middle school...Your body thinks its starving so its storing what you eat as fat. Our bodies still think we live in the ice age. Next your eating late at night. Enough said on that. If you are running 4-6 miles a day and are over weight, you might want to look at what your eating. However you never stated your BMI, so I cant go on that.

What is your schedule that all of your eating is after 6:00? This is the time when you should be gearing down, slowing down, and not eating too much at all. It sounds like this might be a problem, the main one probably.
What kind of foods are you eating? Limit these foods to once or twice a week: cheeses, sodas, chips, fast foods, fried foods, sweet treats. If you're eating any of these foods at night this is a big weight gain thing.

Your problem is that you need to eat smaller meals more often. When your body is hungry all day and then gets a big shot of food at night it stores that food because it does not know when you will give it more. The key is to eat a balanced diet of high protein, low fat, moderate carbs. And good low glycemic carbs, i.e.-avoid white bread, white potatoes and other starches. Also high intensity cardio does not work well for fat burning. You want to do a moderate exercise program that keeps your heart rate between 120-140, to keep it in the fat burning range. Good things to eat for this type of program are skim milk, lowfat yogurt, chicken, fish, brown rice, leafy greens, nuts, sweet potatoes, turkey, soy protein supplements. Hope this helps.
