My ear specialist told me today to stop using them. I asked him how will i clean my ears and he said that our ears are self cleaning. Do you agree or disagree--

cotton swabs are good for cleaning your ears but only the outer part. if you shove a q tip in to far you could cause damage to your eardrum and actually be pushing and compacting wax in your ear. if you would like to clean out your ears you can make a solution 1/2 water 1/2 peroxide and put a few drops in your ear then tilt head to let wax drain. you can do this weekly. i know it sounds gross but its the best way.

ears are suppose to be self cleaning but i always use a q-tip after i shower just to clean the outer area of the ear to dry it.

I agree, I used them for my ears and plugged them up, my mother always told me never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears.

Well I find it more efficient to use toilet paper, but if you're patient and adventuresome enough, cotton swabs will do the job just fine.
