there is no cost to attend the ceremony itself, but the military does not provide transportation or accomodations for family members wishing to attend.
The Navy, I know, limits the number of tickets per Recruit to three. Not sure if the AF has similar restrictions.

Now, I am assuming you are a civilian.
The Tickets for you to fly to see the Graduation of your service member from Basic is at YOUR Expense. The Service Member was flown to his Basic Training Base at Government Expense, and at the End (successful completion) of Basic -- he will be flown to his next duty station (which is Advanced Training) or the First Duty Assignment (whichever comes first).
It is when the Service member is Married that he or she gets an allowance (after Basic) to move their spouse/children with them to the next duty station, but NOT to such temporary assignments as Advance Training.

I have never heard of this as others have said. When I was in the Air Force it was not only free, but, with a reservation my parents had a place to stay on the Air force Base and were very well pleased with how they were treated. Heck, they even got free food in the "Chow Hall" lol!!! My dad said; "Now I see what you say about the Gravy"! Hee! Hee!

I've never heard of that. You do have to pay for your own travel and board.
