It is only the size of a pea, but it is the location that concerns me. It is right on the side of my neck. Not near a gland or anything, it does not hurt and I have not been sick at all. Because it has stayed fairly small, should I be concerned?

Why don't you wait a little longer????
You should have seen a doctor 8 months ago.

Yes, you should be concerned. This should be checked out. Do you have any other symptoms like low grade fever, malaise, or tenderness at the site? A lymph node swells in response to an infection or illness. They make the white blood cells that fight infection. These symptoms indicate an active infection.

I need to say that you may be jumping to the conclusion that this is a lymph node. It could be a cyst or a few other things that are a bit more obsure and less likely. But cysts aren't that uncommon.

Mostly, you need to see a doctor. Stay positive, but get this checked out. If it is the worst case scenario, (cancer) you've waited a long while and that's not great, but waiting longer is worse. Don't waste any more time. Get seen ASAP.

Best wishes.

You should definitely see your doctor about your enlarged lymph nodes given that they have remained enlarged for a long period of time and that you have a family history of lymphoproliferative disorder. Given your circumstances, however, I wouldn't worry too much in the way of cancer. As you have stated your lymph nodes became enlarged when you were ill with an infection six months ago, meaning that they were doing their job. Now you feel completely fine which wouldn't be the case if you had lymphoma. If you had lymphoma your condition would likely have continued to deteriorate, or at the very least remained the same. Sometimes after an infection your lymphnodes don't return to their original size. This is often referred to as "shotty lymphnodes," a completely benign condition. See a doctor just to be safe, but don't stress yourself out.

You should have this checked out. Lymphe nodes draw infection out of the body and try to fight it. It sounds like whatever you had did not leave the body.

My son has the same symptoms ten years ago, and it ended up being a bacterial infection. He had to have surgery.

Consult your doctor.

I have one too. My doctor wanted to do a needle biopsy, but I was scared. She said that as long as it doesn't grow, it's fine.
but check it every once in a while. I noticed mine about 12 years ago and it's still the size of a pea. It's probably nothing, but with anything medical, you should always have it checked.

I sure would not have waited 9months. Get to your family doctor soon. They might do a ultra sound on your neck and take blood work for the thyroid.
Good luck and take care.

that could be nothing or it could be serious... i forget what its called at the moment but its not good and it too has no symptoms for quite awhile... but anyways just have a doctor check it out to be safe... it might just be a fatty tumor or a cyst which are both harmless in most cases

it may not be the lymph node..it could be a cyst, if so it can be drained....it isn't a boil because boils are painful...going to the physician is about the only way to get rid of it....no home remedies
