Don't worry so much. You are in a life "transition" period. Your mind is calculating all kinds of things and sorting out how to deal with different situations while you are on your own. It's normal. There were many things that took place while you were with your mom that isn't happening while you are by yourself. You must also pay heed to your instincts. They might be saving you from trouble. All in all, you are doing fine. Some people misinterpret the "why" to what is happening to them. This is not about your self esteem. Take your time. Be safe. You'll be fine.

Well,I am not a professional at sycology but I do have this problem myself. You should carry something that makes you feel safe but isnt to dangerous that its scary.(knives guns and saws are all to scary) You should carry around pepperspray in a purse or if you dont have a purse you could put it in your pocket or something. And if you are to afraid to step outside even then, you should slowly work on learning how to make yourself better at being alone.Like sit in your room alone for a while then gradualtely take bigger steps on going outside alone. This should atleast help if not cure your fears.

After two and a half years on your own, you should have adjusted. This sounds like a problem to take to a professional. Ask your family doctor who he/she would recommend and then make the appointment right away. You've been miserable too long. Good luck.

You are just a bit afraid. I have a teenage daughter and she is afraid to go anywhere alone. I'll give you the same advice i gave her. Just pretend in your mind that you are walking with your best friend.

Maybe u should find a friend that u can be with on go places u normally don't go by yourself. Then gradually start wondering off (need 2 tell friend that ur going somewhere) when u are with her and then just grow off that.

It may be an anxiety disorder or agoraphobia. Either can be treated. Make an appointment with a psychologist and get some help. You'll be glad you did.

Well, it's just like anything else you are afraid of. Do it over and over, and you will desensitize yourself to it. Loss of self esteem?
Nah. Just probably separation anxiety. You probably feel like you lost your companion, which can be hard. I promise, you go out on your own, you will do just fine :)

It may be a psychological phobia... I'd doubt it was your self-esteem... Perhaps you need see a psychiatrist...?
