Gen 14:18
1 samuel 8:15

The advent of tithing took place when Abram [Abraham] gave ten percent of his possessions to the protopriest Melchizedek. The practice of tithing [contributing ten percent of one's income to the Church] and other offerings was confirmed in the Mosaic Law and acknowledged in Matthew, Luke, and Hebrews.

Throughout the Old Testament a tithe is recognized as 10% (of your gross income).

In generous spirit pay homage to the LORD,
be not sparing of freewill gifts.
With each contribution show a cheerful countenance,
and pay your tithes in a spirit of joy.
Give to the Most High as he has given to you,
generously, according to your means." [Sir. 35:10-12]

We are supposed to tithe (1 samuel 8:15). Throughout the old testament a tithe is recognised as 10% (of your income). But 10% is the minimum, so certainly feel free to contribute more. I'm not sure of where the verse is, but somewhere in the bible it says something like, give much and much will be given.

Under the Law of Moses, the Jews were required to pay a tithe (a tenth).Since Christians are not under the law of Moses we are not required to pay a tithe. Although, we do have new testament examples of free will offerings to help needy saints.
1 Corinthians 16:1,2 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

God asked the people to give a tenth of their income. He wants us to give to Him first, so that He can bless us. When you trust God with your money, He will honor you more. My Pastor that has retired gave his last $10 to the missionary. He knew he would not get paid for another two weeks. He was asked that Wed. to preach, and God provided the money. He also went out to his mail box and someone had sent him money out of the blue. God takes care of His children. We just have to be faithful to Him. I have been without a job for three months, and I gave my change. God has blessed me with so much more. I always take out 10% first. and some extra to give to the building fund, and to missions. Every time a soul is saved it gets credited to your account in heaven. Have you ever heard the song Thank You for Giving to the Lord? Here are vrs. Numbers 18:26, Deut. 12:6, Deut, 14:22 & 28, 2 Chronicles 31:5, Nehemiah 12:44, Nehemiah 10:38, Malichi 3:8, Luke 18:12, Hebrews 7:5. God bless you in what you do.

None...Jesus only paid the temple tax when Peter told the scribes that they would. And even then he didn't go to Judas (who held the purse), but made Peter fish for the money.

THERE is no set amount, you give from your heart, the Lord does not want you to give so much that you will be burdened by it. the Lord LOVES a cheerful giver, give what you can,and be glad you are blessed enough to do it.
