My spouse, after many years of being an unbeliever, converted to Catholicism. I'm Episcopalian. Observing the Catholic conversion process was quite fascinating, and strengthened my own faith. We are both interested in religion, both Christian and non-Christian, and we have wonderful discussions about it frequently.

My ex-husband and I WERE the same faith, and he tried very hard to hinder my spiritual growth. He hated when I read the Bible, and would try to stop me, and he took the car keys to prevent me from going to Church. In spite of this, he claimed to have some special communication with God.
The marriage turned out to be just another step along the journey. He still is Christian, but after we were seperated, I started studying Islam, and converted, as a result of a comment made by the pastor at our Church.

The problems come after you have children. Even if one agrees to raise the children one way, your beliefs stand in the way. If one person attends church, and the other dose not, the children will doubt there own faith. Especially if they see there own parents cannot agree... Most likely they will not be very religious.. Or they will go there own way! Good Luck.. This is very difficult situation to be in... Wish you the best of luck!

No we are of the same faith... Even tho we have had completely different upbringings and came from different countries. We are lapsed catholics , however I think we both have the understanding that there is a higher force out there. I think we have helped each other spiritually

Yes, we are, it has been a challenge, but at the same time it has allowed growth is different ways. Religion/faith is measured by the good you do for others.

I'm the "I don't know if god exists" kind of agnostic and my boyfriend is the "It is impossible to know if god exists" kind of agnostic. He hasn't hindered me though.
