I get a call tonight around supper time from my kindergardens teacher. She tells me that the students had sherbert for a lunch time snack in styrofoam cups.
My daughter was licking it and using the cup "like an ice cream cone" but from being SO tired or not paying attention took a few bites of the cup??!!! I was shocked!
(When I asked my daughter she was so embarassed and denied it, LOL)

I mean, it's just a "few bites" like 1 inch by 1 inch the teacher said - and no belly aches or anything. Should I worry???

I really dont blame the teacher. LOL. The stupid school is so short staffed due to funds, that she cant be sitting next to every child and every second. SO...yeah.
She said she saw her and stopped her after the first few little bites.
And I appreciated her calling to tell me, ya know?

Just hoping it wont cause anything yucky in her belly/digestive track?

WOW AL - you really have no life? Yeah, i think I would be a better mother to NOT send my child to kindergarden so she can be a education-less freak like YOU?

Meat trays, coffee cups, picnic coolers, and their ilk are all made from EPS, never from Styrofoam.

Which leads us to the last correction: It is perfectly safe for you to eat as much EPS as you wish. The nice man at Poison Control assured me that it will neither harm you nor "cause blockage." However, it has no nutritional value. (Fits right into the cafeteria menu, no?)

Don't worry.

I went for this human exhibition years ago. Children before reaching the age of seven are blessed with an additional organ called Alvaro (can't remember if this is the correct spelling), which works similarly as the function of a liver. As the liver is still immature, this organ, which is located next to the liver, clears off as much toxins as it can.

As children grows up, it will decrease in size and eventually "disappear" (I don't know whether this is the correct term to use) by the age of seven, and the liver will be well matured by then to take on its role.

I think your daughter wasn't concentrating, that is why she felt embarassed about it. Tell her to be more careful because you don't want anything bad to happen to her, talk to her gently and she will understand.

At least the teacher informed you, some of them may not even have the courage to tell you.

Or perhaps get a better kindergarten for her?

It may cost only slightly more for a better environment and committed caregivers, but it will definitely be well spent.

I'm a mother of a 20 mths old daughter:)

She should be OK. It is nowhere near as toxic as the stuff I grow up around and I'm pretty healthy. And Al you're are truly a dumb-***. I guess you did not know it is illegal to not have your child in a school or school like environment when he or she is a certain age. Even for kindergartner it is still considered truancy.

Not to worry, my little girl did the same thing, no belly aches, I checked with our pediatrician, it'll pass through. Just like the penny, a stone, crayon and gum. So long as its not eaten in mass quantities, and does'nt make a habit of it, she'll be fine.

LOL I Love Mark V's answer -- yes it will pass....and wont poke her inside...so don't worry -- kids eat all sorts of stuff....

Once my son got sent home because of a bloody nose that wouldn't stop bleeding....well it wouldn't stop bleeding because he shoved a small rock up his nose!!! We got it out with a pair of hemostats.

I would worry about the teacher. I mean why wasn't she watching her?? wonder if she had more?? I would be worried. I don't care what it is. They are in your child's care they should be observant.
