As far back as ancient Egypt people used henna. Peroxide and bleach started between ww1 and ww2.

Probably the first time a woman looked into a reflective surface and decided she "just needed a change"!
Ancient Egyptians used henna to change their hair color and that was THOUSANDS of years ago. It was also used for ceremonial purposes.
Don't know about the "bleach blond" look but using peroxide was very popular during the 1920's and 1930's in this country--just look at the old movies.

People having been coloring their hair for thousands of years back to the anicent civilizations... people have been turning their hair blonde for at least hundreds of years as it was very popular in the middle ages for high class woman to have light hair
