The hole in your tooth is called a cavity. A cavity is caused by the bacteria that make up the plaque on your teeth. The plaque eats away at the food on your teeth (and eat away at the teeth themselves). In order to prevent cavities, you need to brush three times a day and make sure you don't forget to floss.

Several causes with several solutions. Likely cause is a cavity. Fairly easy cause, left over starches and sugars fuel the bacteria, they leave an acid that breaks down teeth. Once the breakdown is large enough a hole developes. Solution, after this is fixed, see your dentist. Brush and floss twice daily and no food and only water after the night time scrub. Added bonus to find a mouth rinse as well with flouride in it. Will help strengthen the teeth. Diet changes that really help is to eat and drink in 30 minutes or less rather than sipping on a coke all day or snacking on chips. Gives the saliva time to fight the bad stuff instead of having a constant battle. Other things that cause holes are grinding. You can simply wear holes and groves into the teeth. Once past the outer enamel the dentin is a lot softer and will wear out faster causing a pitting effect. Night guard will help protect the teeth in this case. Weak teeth due to genetics. Hypominerilation is rare but exists, not a cure but high fluroide rinses will help.

The cause of a hole in your tooth is a sign that the tooth is rotten. Please go get it taken as soon as possible. They will probably pull the tooth at least thats what my dentist does. All you can do is brush, brush and brush somemore and use listerine afterwards it will help believe it or not. Hope all goes well for you I know because I just had three pulled that had holes in them.

If like me it can be a decay of tooth, small cavity and in need of fillings, Or could be caused by having Periodontal Disease, This is when the gums swell and tooth begin to separate from the gums and when it is in the early stages like self at times when eating one can bite down on something while chewing this can cause certain wholes or chip teeth. You will need to seek advice from a dentist. there is a solution to save teeth. Just remember to rise and brush after each meal and try not to chew gum.

Well build up of food and plaque starts to rot away at the tooth and eat at it (kinda like termites) to prevent it you have to brush your teeth and if its too late the way to fix it is go to the dentist and let him handle it, the bigger and deeper the hole the worse...You might not get away with just a filling, u might need a root canal.

a hole is just another term for tooth decay. Most decaying teeth are the result of not brushing often, or there's to much acid in your mouth. Try using Listerine before and after brushing, you'll see a world of difference.

It's based on genetics and inbreeding. It starts off as a small hole and just eats the teeth away. Pretty soon you look like Billy Joe Jim Bob from out in the backwoods of Arkansas.

Called a cavity: due sugar or poor dental hygiene or a bacteria that causes the hole (my daughter suffers from this.)
Brush and floss regularly and thoroughly and visit your dentist every 6-9 months.

Probably a cavity, caused from lots of things, sugar, not brushing well enough etc....To fix it a dentist can fill it, to prevent it try having regular dentist checkups and brushing well and staying away from sugary foods. Good Luck!
