For Red wine, usually a day or two if it's kept chilled in the fridge. I recommend getting the plastic pump that removes air from wine bottles.

They sell them at the liquor store for about $5, and I've found they really work. This will add a good 3 days to your wine--it amazed me the first time I used it!

As for white wine, it seems to last a little longer, but again, if you use the pump, you can add a day or two. Trust your taste buds though--if it smells or tastes different, then just pour it out and open a new bottle. ENJOY!

Wine is like beer - once you chill it it needs to stay chilled once it warms up it looses some of its flavor.

If you re-cork it - or pump it as some have suggested - make sure you put it back in the fridge. Chilling a wine will make it last longer - that applies to both red and white wines.

Plan on 2 days tops for best flavor for whites after opening - 3 if you pump. most wine start to lose flavor within a couple of hours of opening, you can still drink them for a week, but they won't taste like they do when first opened.

Well it's kind of up to your taste buds. I'll asume you are talking about white but in any case, if you can take the air out it will last a good week then it may start to taste oxidized.

After about a day I would use it for cooking unless you own one of these ( http://www.sharperimagebest.com/vi600.html ) in which case it is like it was never opened.
