My eyes have been hurting since 9 this morning. At first, it was just an irritation--but as the day progressed so did the irritation and then pain. I took out my contacts, flushed out my eyes, and put so much eye dropper stuff in them, but they're still hurting. Does anyone have any idea why? And possibly, how to stop the pain?

You have to take the day off.
SLEEP
There is a wound and thus the pain, due to infection or impact. If not better must see a doctor of course

First of all any problem with your eyes go to see a dr. You may have allergies, or pink eyes without seeing you I cannot diagnose. Home remedy, remove your contacts and gently wash your eyes with warm tea bags or camomile tea. Warm not hot, dip each bag in the warm tea and let it rest for a few seconds on top of your closed lids. Use only one tea bag at a time, one for each eye. Once this is done rest for 10 minutes and then your eyes should be relaxed. This is also good for eye strains from working in front of the computer all day.

Be sure to keep your contacts out until the pain subsides. You may have allergies or an infection. You should make an appointment with your eye doctor to get something to clear it up.

Usually eye pain is caused by the obstruction of the hole that lets the liquid inside the eye get out. when the hole is covered by bacteria or dirt it causes high ocular pressure and it causes pain, check with a doctor as soon as you can.

Go and see an Optometrist they will tell you what is wrong, don't wait remember your eyes is one of your most precious senses, look after them and don't take remedies from the Internet when it comes to your health.!!! Good Luck.!!!

Are they red and crusty? If so, or if that develops, could be pinkeye...very contagious... and don't put contacts back in until you figure it out!
