Murder is always murder, regardless of the circumstances. If a man commits murder while at war, he may legally get away with it, but he is morally accountable.
Killing combatants in battle is not the same thing as murder.

Taking the life of another person in defense of a just cause is not murder. When it becomes them or you the duty is to protect yourself and those you love. Killing someone up close is harder than at a great distance because you see what is left, the body, and sometimes the mutilation caused by the bullet distorts features very grotesquely. In facing that reality most people get depressed for different reasons.

*** g93 11/8 p. 21 Is Jehovah a War God? ***
Jehovah’s Standards Promote Peace
Time and again, the Bible associates God’s blessing with peace. That is because Jehovah is a lover of peace, not war. (Numbers 6:24-26; Psalm 29:11; 147:12-14) Consequently, when King David desired to build a temple of worship to Jehovah, God told him: “You will not build a house to my name, for a great deal of blood you have spilled on the earth before me.”—1 Chronicles 22:8; Acts 13:22.
While on earth, the Greater David, Jesus Christ, spoke of a time when God’s love of justice would no longer allow him to tolerate the present-day evil we see. (Matthew 24:3, 36-39) As he did in the Flood of Noah’s day and in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, God will soon take judicial action to rid the earth of selfish, wicked men, thus paving the way for peaceful conditions to exist under his heavenly Kingdom rule.—Psalm 37:10, 11, 29; Daniel 2:44.
Clearly, Jehovah is not a war god who lusts for blood. On the other hand, he does not shrink back from exacting judicial punishment when it is due. God’s love of goodness requires that he act in behalf of those who love him by destroying the wicked system that oppresses them. When he does so, true peace will flourish earth wide as the truly meek ones unitedly worship Jehovah, “the God of peace.”—Philippians 4:9.

If he/she enjoys the number of people he killed? If he/she kills with utmost hated, because he/she is not fighting the war he/she is there to unleash his/her murderous side and not face the court of law. He/she is not their to defend his/her love ones and country.
Otherwise it is their leaders, their kings, their presidents that started and declared the war that is answerable. If it weren't for them there wouldn't be a war.

There is no prohibition against killing as such in the Abrahamic traditions (Jewish, Christian or Islamic). The prohibition against murder is obviously not the same. God himself seems to have asked that whole tribes be killed - including innocent children.
Bottom line, the god you refer to has no problem with killing, as long as it's for a "good cause." Look it up in the Holy Book, which couldn't be any gorier if Sam Peckinpah teamed up with Quentin Tarrantino to write it.

no, there is a time for war, this is in the bible, murder is not the same as kill.. murder is when you premeditate and plan to kill someone specific. in war you just shoot at the feller that is shooting at you. war is different. however that does not mean that murders are not occuring in war, if that were not the case we would not have those marines at camp Pendleton going to court martial now would we. are they being held accountable, looks to me like they are indeed.

Yes.
That man choses to go to war knowing that he will have to kill.
Don't go to war if you don't want to kill.
Don't go to war if you don't agree with the principles of the man leading you.
I understand that the army gives people a chance to go to school but so does life.
Any person can get just as good and cheap an education if they work hard and study hard.

Yes! Regardless of where you are, you are always responsible for your decisions to act. A man cannot say that it was war that made him murder people, because ultimately it was him who decided to do so.
