Generally there are short-term mission trips available through your denomination. Also there are also organizations such as Men for Missions International and OMS International that are denomination independant. Mission trips could be a work trip, a prayer walk trip, or even medical trip and could span from one week to several months depending on the need.

Forget about yourself. Start seeing the people around you - really looking at them, seeing them through God's eyes. What is it that he sees in them? What is it that he loves? Then do like he does and love them also. It won't matter then whether he sends you to some foreign country or asks you to stay where you are. You'll be that missionary you want to be.
