God can heal anyone who has faith. In the case of a mentally retarded person, the retarded person would not be required to have faith since he/she is, in the sight of God, as a small child. But someone in his/her life would have to have the faith. There arises a problem however in most cases. The presence of doubters and unbelievers in that person's life. Even the LORD Jesus Christ could not perform healings in the presence of doubt and unbelief. This is why he only took Peter, James and John with him to raise the little girl from the dead. He didn't take the other disciples in with him, and he also made everyone leave the house except for the two parents. The two parents had shown their faith in asking Jesus to come to their house.

Also, In Jesus' own hometown, he could do no mighty works there save he healed a few sick people. And he marvelled at their (the people of the town) unbelief.

God has used my hands to heal several people, but this was only possible if the person in need, or the person asking for my prayer for another, had faith to believe. In each case, the people were totally healed. I have also encountered those who didn't believe, therefore they were not healed.

Case in point very personal: I have faith to heal others, but not myself for some reason. Just wanted to be honest about that.

well he might have already healed some...you just don't know it...some people are put here to be a cetain type of person....i have a social theory that every individual should be a contributor to the society in which they live and not be a drain on it's resources....but i also have the parallel belief that everyone has a purpose in life...a disability does not automatically mean no contribution....beethoven was deaf...but he was one of the world's leading composers....God/The Creator/Great Spirit/Allah whomever you believe in is God because we believe that they can do what we can't that is why they exist....if the person needs to be healed then they will...if not some people just need to exist ot fulfill thie r purpose in life.

incase you are unaware of the reality in old times they were worshiped and seen as a god for there purity of the heart. depends on which ones your referring to aswell. God did not create this mishap people did. God only deals with you in his realm. here is a go between place you'll keep coming back until you learn the lesson you were suppose to learn. every persons lesson is different. so there your path is different tasks even though you have no clue about what you were to learn. your pathh life can be cruel or harsh or happy and fine depends on what you did previous life.

because before we come to this planet we make the decision to live the life were going to live. You may not believe it, but these souls have "chosen" to live this life. the people who are mentally retarted learn a lot from this lifetime experience and perhaps will become far wiser than us as we move on into our next life, because they have had that difficult experience.. thats y many people may feel "wiser" than others, even if they may be the same age. just because youre retarted doesnt make you less blessed, each person has their own difficulties to lead.

I doubt that He sees this as an aflection. Perhaps an opportunity for the rest to practice what He taught. I find that the retarded have no trouble believing in Jesus once they figure it outand often that comes quickly. I have a retarded boy and I think ignorance can be bliss.

They aren't sick.

They may not be what society believes is good or normal, but that doesn't mean that God and their families don't love them.

Ask the parent of a mentally challenged child and they will tell you that they are very sweet and loving people. That's not a sickness.

Because man brought sin and death into the world. We must suffer through the cause and effect relationships that our sin brings on us. God heals the soul through Jesus Christ, the physical body is nothing. Before the fall there was no sickness, disease, or death. We brought this on ourselves. People like you define God in your own way, put Him in a box and tell Him what He must do in order to be God.

I was autistic until the age of 5, and God healed me.

Also, define "mentally retarded." I work with a guy with Down's, and he is an absolute genius at networking...I dare you to call him a "savant!"

I have been told that people with disabilities are often angles sent by God and have a few things to teach us with regards to humanity. I certainly would heal them if I had the power.
Good question.

The truth is they are here to teach us an example of how to love completely. Many require 100% of our love and care and it is more blessed to give than to receive. So through and by them we are made strong in our weakest point by their weakness. If all of us were perfect where would be the lesson of love? God gives us the grace to His glory.
