That is how I got all of my cats. You save an animal and get a good companion in the process.

I've lost count of the strays I have fed. Most became permanent pets, others were old, wild, and sickly and I knew their last days were better. One died at my doorstep on the 2nd floor apartment I lived in.
I rescued one poor little kitty screaming in the bushes at the grocery store one night. Brought her home, fed her, etc. By observing the cat box I was furious with people in general because it was obvious she had been living on foliage. I adopted her out because my male cats weren't having any part of it. The person who adopted promised to stay in touch, but they didn't. Georgia Bush still haunts me. No, I'm not a George Bush fan; I found her under a bush and she acted like a Southern Belle, hence Georgia Bush. Poor kitty.
I have never paid for an animal, there are too many that need us out there. Strays can be wonderful pets if you have the patience to get past a few temporary personality problems.
Spay/Neuter your pets!

If you feed them, they tend to stay. I had a stray that I thought was pregnant, let her in the house and fed her all the time. The cat just kept getting bigger and bigger. Then when we got to thinking about how long it was, we knew the cat couldn't still be pregnant. Come to find out it was nothing but a big old tom cat that lived on the street behind me. He was eating at home and here and no telling where else. Well, he got sent home that very day and it took about 3 weeks for him to quit hollering to come in and trying to sneak in. Still here all the time.

Yes of course. We have 2 cats that we got as strays and they eventually became ours. One is still alive and she will be 19 years old this October! Cats seem to come back to places they can get food and shelter easily I'm sure that's why they stayed with us.

Yup, that's how I got my calico cat. She showed up one day, and I had said that I wasn't going to get another kitten, but that my next cat would "find me" and that it would be a calico with bold colors, and she is and She did. She ate from my other cat's food dish and I let her decide if she was going to stay, and if she could get along with my existing cat. She's already caught a mouse so I know she'll be a good cat in the long run.

yes. 2 so far. Emma had a hurt paw when she started coming around, and then I discovered she was pregnant. Lucky was kinda the neighbors cat, but they didn't feed her or let her in, so she slowly became mine. My poor baby got hit by a car a few months ago. I miss her so much. Maybe another cat will find it's way to me.

Every cat I have ever had, except one, was a stray. I think strays make good pets. They seem to be grateful for saving them.

Yes and no. The cats I had when I was a kid were both found when they were kittens (at different times, about a year apart). So we didn't feed them, THEN take them in, we took them in first:) My two current cats are shelter rescues.

No, but my aunt did, ended up with 50 or more wild cats in her yard, and asked me if i wanted one. I dont realy like cute and cubddly. I like cold and sliy. Like Snakies :3 And Bats and Crows and Ravens and... Weasels and any other animal people believe is bad luck, bad omen, or a sign of death.
