There are two different types we like at our house when we don't feel like driving into town to go to the pizza restaurant.
For the base we use either Boboli for the crust or simple white french bread. The pizza sauce I usually keep in the pantry is like Pizza Quick (by: Ragu), the rest of the items are just what you like. I use mozzarella with some medium sharp cheddar sprinkled over it.
We have tried: boboli crust, pizza quick sauce, mozarella/medium sharp cheddar, portbello mushrooms & baby spinach.
French bread (sliced in half of course), pizza quick sauce, mozarella/cheddar, pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, sliced black olives (this just happens to be my boys' favorite).
Anyway, just a suggestion... Have fun with it. If it's for a party, boboli also makes smaller crusts that can be used for individual pizzas. Then just buy an assortment of topping, put them out in bowls along with some sauce & cheese & let each make their own.

Use one of those frozen loaves of bread, let is thaw and rise a bit. Smash in down on a large cookie sheet, make a dam around the outside edges.
Use favorite spaghetti sauce, cheeses, ground meat, pepperaroni, mushrooms, etc. Bake until edges are good and born, usually about 1/2 hr about about 400. Let sit for several minutes before cutting.

Italian Pizza Pie

1 (16 ounce) package ziti pasta
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 pound salami
1/2 pound provolone cheese
1 pound sliced pepperoni sausage
12 eggs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
Combine 4 cups flour with 1 cup shortening. Add in 2 eggs and 1/2 cup cold water to make the crust. Separate dough into 2 portions, one for top and one for bottom. Roll bottom crust and place in the bottom of a 12x15 inch baking pan.
When you buy the cold cuts you will buy them in chunk form. Dice each chunk into small pieces. Meanwhile cook pasta until almost done.
When you're through cutting the cold cuts place them in a large mixing bowl. Place the cooled pasta on top. In a separate bowl beat 12 eggs. Add a little pepper to taste. Pour the eggs on top of cold cut mixture. Mix ingredients with your hands or a large spoon if you prefer.
Place in the prepared bottom crust. Roll out the top crust and make 3 slits for air in the top. Place on top and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 1 hour. ENJOY!

Great recipe that we use here sometimes! Delish!

Leave out the fennel seed, unless of course you like it. We don't care for those at all.
