Show them your bank balance of at least $2000.00. (cost of food, vet, surgeries, treatments etc for 1 yr)
Show them the extra money you have put aside so when puppy chews something in the house like baseboards or carpet you can pay to replace it.
Show them the crate and training devices that you have to train the puppy properly.
Show them the stain remover that you bought for when puppy has an accident in THEIR house.
Show them the leash, collar, equipment etc that you'll need.
Show them you have a trainer set up to teach you and the puppy basic behaviours and how to deal with problems.
Show them you have a dog walker set up to let the puppy out during the day 2-3 times while you're at school.
Show them your paystub that will go entirely towards food and care for the puppy. (approx $2000 a yr)
Good Luck

Talk to your parents first to really understand their reasons, dogs can be very expensive with vet bills, monthly food expense and grooming requirements...be sure you can truly afford the dog first.
Then to show responsibility, maybe you could volunteer to pet sit for some neighbors to show you are dedicated and capable of this kind of ownership (regular walks, feeding, grooming)...
It is really important to have a parent who will help from time to time, taking you to the store for food, watching the dog if you stay over at a friends house one night, getting you to the vet and understanding a vet emergency....so this decision is one for all of you even if you are the one the dog bonds with, it is a household responsibility.
From personal experience, my brother got a dog when I no longer lived at home with my parents and they didn't have the same commitment to her that my brother did. One day she was in the yard unattended for half an hour, got bored, dug out and got hit by a car, she survived, neighbor found her but my young brother could not afford the bills on his own and my parents alternative was to put her to sleep.
My point is, sometimes it is best to wait until you can do it right even if that means you can't do it right now...I was not allowed pets when I was at home and now I have four fantastic dogs a cat.
Owning an animal can be very rewarding but a bad experience is not fair to you, your parents or your new puppy...I wish you the best of luck.

Have you shown much responsibility in caring for your fish? If not, your parents might not think you're ready for a dog. A dog is a big responsibility, and it's understandable why your parents don't want one just yet. Show that you are good with animals and will take care of them, and maybe they'll say yes one day. Good luck!

well, you need to show them that you are responsible enough to take care of a pet like a dog. One way might be to find an animal shelter to volunteer at- that might really show your parents that you are ready to not only care for a puppy but that you are comitted to a strong healthy and responsible relationship with a puppy.

Ask your parents for a small, semi-active animal like a lizard, hamster, or snake first to prove you can be responsible. Or try to get straight A's in school, ask, and theyll agree. OR ask for one on your birthdayor on Christmas.

How to Convince Your Parents to Let You Have a Dog
Find out your parents' objections and overcome them. Point out the benefits that the dog can bring to your family.

Talk to your parents. Be honest about your intentions. Let them know that you are definitely old enough to handle the responsibility of owning a pet. Be ready to demonstrate that by volunteering to be tested. A good test is the egg test. Have your parents mark an egg in indelible ink, and then give it to you to take care of for one week. Take it with you everywhere. Keep it clean and, most importantly, don't break it! If at the end of the week you still have the egg, it just might help you in your begging for a pet.
List the benefits of having a dog:

It will help you to be responsible.
The dog may alert the family if there is a burglar in the house.
The dog can become a companion for the whole family.
Offer to help with the extra housecleaning and vacuuming. Dogs can be messy. They shed their hairs. Since it is you who wants a dog, you should make the extra effort. You should explain to your parents that you are willing to do this before the dog gets there to prove your sincerity.
Learn how to house-train a dog so that it will not poop in the house. Books on the subject can be found and borrowed free from your local library.
Take a friend or relative's dog for a weekend as a "test run" to show your parents that you are ready for the responsibility.
Offer to help pay for the dog food by doing extra chores or contributing some of your pocket money.

Tips
If your parents, after all you have done to convince your parents that you are responsible enough to have a dog and really take care of it, still decide that they don't want to or cannot have a dog, here are some more things you can do:
You can find out where the animal shelters are in your neighborhood and go volunteer there to help take care of some homeless dogs.
You can find out if there are elderly neighbors who have dogs and cannot walk them regularly. You could volunteer to walk their dogs for them.
Dogs, especially puppies, need a lot of things to chew on while they are developing their teeth. You can also find suggestions on how to keep your dog from chewing your shoes and clothes. You must be prepared to get them rawhide or bones to chew.
Dogs need regular exercise. You will have to sacrifice some of your personal time with friends or hobbies to walk your dog. It may help to convince your parents that you are willing to do this if you announce daily that you are now going for a 'pretend walk' with your dog so they believe you. You will have to do this regularly once the dog gets there, and more than once a day.
Dogs cannot be left behind while the family goes on vacation. If you leave for a family vacation, you must either find a friend to take care of your dog while you are gone or take the dog to a kennel. You should find a friend whose parents are willing to do this, or you should find a kennel. Find out how much it costs to board your dog and prepare to save up some money so you can be responsible for your dog's care.
You could keep going "Please, please, please, please..." It is better to say "I love you and you know I'm responsible."
Warnings
You should really read at least one book on the proper care of dogs before you go any further. Dogs are real living creatures who have needs similar to those of children.
There are laws that state that you must pick up the poop from your dog. Decide if you are willing and able to do this
Remember a dog needs to be walked a few times a day, sometimes very early in the morning, and/or late at night. Are you able to do this?

Things You'll Need
A good collar and a leash. A well-trained dog is a safe dog.
You will need the names and phone numbers of veterinarians and kennels in case the dog needs health care or needs to be boarded.
Patience. It takes a lot of patience to train a puppy. You must never get mad at the dog and hit it.
Money. You will need money for dog food, toys and treats
People to take care of your dog while you are away
How to Convince Your Parents to Let You Get a Dog
How do you get a dog when your parents won't let you? Just read this article.

Steps
Well, your parents are going crazy because all you do is whine, (and if you don't live with your parents, why are you reading this page?) so here's the quickest way, stop whining and quit bugging them! They might feel more relieved and maybe you will get a dog as a gift. Just to be on the safe side, only ask your parents occasionally and when they're in a good mood!
Make sure your parent's know you can handle a dog, maybe borrow your friends dog for a week and take care of it, or pet sit for a neighbor. They might see that there is still hope for you yet!
Make sure you know what kind of dog you want and how to take care of it.
Tips
Talk about adopting a dog, make sure you understand everything about that dog!
Make a journal and right EVERYthing you know about dogs in it then give it to your parents to look at.
If you have other pets take care of them even better then that will show your responsible.

Warnings
Dogs need to be trained, so give it a few lessons! Or take it to a local training place. Also, dogs can get sick and the vet bills can be very expensive. Make sure your parents and you know this before you consider getting a dog.

do as they ask, obey them, do not argue, do your chores without putting up a fight. when they see that u are capable of taking care of yourself and the responsiblities given to u already, then the might consider giving you the MAJOR (&expensive) responsibility of a dog.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. :)
But if you do try it, be sure that you clean up every single bit after it...including hair, messes and oopses.
That's how I got my dogs.
