The fleas are most likely the culprit for thier nursing problem. If they have fleas than so does the mother.

Sounds like your in a situation where you can do something, but with limited resources since your mom won't help.

Newborn kittens must have all their needs met by their mother or their owner. Caring for the newborn kitten includes correct feeding and nutrition, stimulation of urination and defecation, knowledge of normal cat development, proper care, nursing and preventive health care.
If money is an issue, you can still help. Using a liquid dish detergent, give the kittens a gentle bath and wash as many fleas away as possible. This is not a permanent answer but will give the kittens some relief and possibly allow you to get them to eat.
Go to www.peteducation.com - there is alot of info that is helpful.

Do what you can with the resources you have and don't be afraid to ask others (friends, neighbors, other family members) for help.

Sorry your kittens aren't doing well.
If your mom won't take them to a vet, can you walk to one near you? Is calling a local vet an option at all? If not, call a friend and get them to call a vet for you. They need to be treated for fleas first because fleas on kittens can be lethal - they're not old enough to have their immune system able to fight the fleas off. That's the first order of business - get rid of the fleas. The other thing you can do is to wrap them in some warm blankets - old jumpers etc, wrap them fairly tight (but don't strangle them) so they don't move too much and try feeding them with a dripper. You can force their mouths open and drip the milk down their throats (but please try to avoid this unless really desparate as it can be quite cruel).

But overall, please go to or contact a vet somehow - they can help.

A final thought, is there another adult you can speak to about the kittens who can help you? Unless your mom wants the kittens to die, she can't object to you trying to help them. And yeah, she'll probably be mad cause you went around her but look at it this way, it's the kittens that are important here, not your mom's feelings.

Fleas on kittens that age can make them very weak, but you also need to becareful what you use to treat them. Here is a link to a thread on another board I am a member of that addresses removing fleas in very young kittens that hopefully can help you some: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99269&highlight=kitten+fleas

If the kittens are not nursing I would start bottle or syringe feeding them KMR (kitten milk replacer) every few hours, but I would seriously suggest calling the vet as well to give them the best chance at survival. There is a possibility something else is wrong with them, but I would continue to try to do everything you can to help these little ones.

Get to an emergency vet right away.

Fleas will kill your kittens by sucking their blood until they are anemic. Make sure Mom is on Frontline. Flea collars don't help and some flea products are harmful to the kittens. So get vet help to resolve this.

Fleas may not be the problem, though you should still deal with it. Maybe they have colds which will keep them from nursing. They may need to be tube fed. If you do not get them to the vet very soon, I guarantee they will die.

bathe them with dawn hand dish washing liquid, it will help with the fleas. in the pet stores and pet aisles of supermarkets should have cat mama's milk for orphaned kittens and when they wont nurse. get a small syringe-not the kind with a needle of course. use the syringe to feed the kittens the milk. also call a vet to find out if there is anything else you can do for them. i hope this helps. good luck. blessed be.

You definately need to take them to a vet or a shelter who can appropriately nurse them to good health.... why would you expose week old kittens to fleas?! You need to take them to the vet asap! They are too young for over the counter flea treatment and they are probably too weak from anemia caused by an infection from the fleas to even bother with nourishment.

Do not use flea shampoo, it is poison to the kittens, make a mix of detergent soap with perfume, using warm water, bath the kittens, make sure to dry them a completely as possible.
get sorn corn surup, and start dabbing it on their tounges, this will help replish the blood loss. Do this 6 times a day for 3 days, when they are strong enough take them to a professional who can rid them of the fleas completely.

Bath the mother (maybe she passed the fleas to the kittens) whit an anti-flea shampoo.
if your stepmother refuses, ask her why she refuses to go.
In my opinion;

if it was a person, anybody would think on taking that person to the hospital as soon as possible, why if it is an animal is not so important? BECAUSE HUMAN BEINGS ARE JUST TOO NARCICIST WITH OUR OWN SPECIE??!!
things shouldn't be this way, every aminal in the world has the same rights as humans, and we're animals too, don't forget that,

Mainly keep them inside an in a warm place to sleep -after bathing them in watered down baby shampoo. Keep it out of their little eyes an not up the nose. Try giving them clean bedding as often as possible also. If you can get them to the vet-or shelter where they can be taken care of properly. If your step mom wont help them now-she sure isn't going to be a good person to have kittens-they will grow up neglected.
