I NEED SOMEONE TO SHOW ME HOW TO WORK OUT , BUT AM NOT SURE IF A TRINER IS WORTH $800.00 FOR13 SESSIONS

$800 for 13 sessions sounds high unless they are a trainer to the stars. That should run about $400 most places. Working with a professional is an excellent way to start because with good form your gains will be much more rapid. Stay on the lookout for a long-term "free" workout partner for when you have the form mastered.

A trainer does more than just show you how, a good trainer also motivates you to work hard, and train correctly. A LOT of people, maybe even most, don't put forth the effort they need to, to get optimal results.

You might not need 13 sessions, 2 or 3 would get you started, but unless you are certain that you are motivated to keep going, you might be more successful doing the whole package because one motivator will be that you paid a lot of money for those sessions, so you are likely to go.

Experts say that it takes 2-3 months to really establish a new habit (or break an old one) so all those sessions will force you to go and work hard long enough to develop your own internal motivation so you keep it up.

So...yes, I think its a great idea unless you can't afford it, but at a minimum, I'd invest in at least 2 sessions, and maybe a check up once a month to help insure you get the results you want.

It depends. How much do you know about nutrition and fitness? If you know quite a bit and feel comfortable designing your own workout and you just need help with motivation, maybe you just need a workout buddy to push you along. If you feel completely lost, it may be worth the money to hire a personal trainer for a couple of sessions to help you with form, design and eating and workout plan, and get you familiarized with your body again. You could possibly have a friend at the gym that you admire their physique. Ask them a couple of questions about how they got into their best shape. People are usually really ready to offer advice when it comes to this stuff, especially because they're into it enough to be in the gym a lot. Personally, I've gained a lot from going to different free classes at the gym and asking the instructors questions. They are a great resource. Also, go to your local library and look into some books. I like Jillian Michaels and anything from Tom Venuto. Look into the Thin Commandments book, that's a good one too. You'll find a lot of books out there, but the more of them you read, the more it will make sense. It's up to you whether or not to spend the money. But if you are dissatisfied, talk to your club manager. You shouldn't have to pay for something that you felt wasn't up to par.

Ok, about 3 or 4 sessions with a personal trainer is good, but go into the sessions telling HIM.HER WHAT YOU WANT! And don't let them tell you what they want. Tell them the kind of results you want and are trying to get and the amount of time you want them. Have them set up a good routine for you to follow with a meal and diet plan.
Have them show you some different exercises you can do by yourself each time you come to the gym. Take notes!!!
13 sessions is way too many unless you are using the trainer like once every 2 weeks or so, so teh trainer can mix up the routine and help you understand your results and the things you might be doing wrong.
Look if you really want to know some good tips, i was reading an online cousre to be a personal trainer. The material is free, only the certificate you have to pay for , here's the site!!

A personal trainer does two things:

1. They teach you how to work out by showing you exercises that target specific areas, and sometimes even help you with diet.

2. They act as an exercise partner to assist you in motivation, and they are always availabe (because they are being paid).

In my opinion, they are not worth my money because I can find the information I need to exercise and eat properly on the internet.

There are hundreds of websites with great information. I typically use sites like menshealth.com, and im sure there is a female equivalent to that site.

As for a workout partner, I dont really need that for motivation. I guess you could say the pictures of all the people already in shape are my motivation, thats what I want to look like, so just looking at them motivates me to work harder.

Thats really what you would be paying for. Motivation. If you can muster that up yourself, you can save yourself the $800.

Why not try one for 1 or 2 sessions. A good trainer should be able to get the basics in that time. If you join the Y ($40/month for me), at my Y we get 3 free sessions.

A trainer is mosty used by people who wont do it be them selves, The gym probably has lists and diagrams of workout cycles. If the cost is worth it, is solely up to you depending on your finances and how much it means to you.

That amount seems high to me. There are personal trainers at local gyms and I do not think that they charge that much. I suggest shopping around.

I have had success with every individual that consistently stuck to my plan. I only charge $25 an hour though!

I wouldn't pay more than $50.00 a session.
