For one if you don't have feelings for your ex stop lying to him, your not together so why lie? And since your ex was hanging out with the new guy you should be careful it could be a set up, and I'm sure the new guy told your ex that you two were talking. Tell your ex you don't want him he's an ex for a reason. To me your problem is that you are tooo nice.

Try telling him that you would only like to be as close as friends as of this moment and would like for your privacy to be respected. I know what you are going through. I have been through that about... 2 times, and it is such a headache! Let me know how it works out!

Tell your ex boyfriend that because you have now broken up, he doesn't get to ask you questions about who you like and who you are hanging out with.

"I appreciate your interest in me, it's truly flattering, and I will always treasure the time we spent together, but that was then, and this is now. I no longer think of you in that way, but would like to remain friends, if you can respect that. Otherwise, I will have no option but to distance myself from you totally."

remind him you two broke up and you need your space and time to figure things out...if he really wants you back and you are willing to give it another try have him prove it
