Can a person become a saint while alive?

Did they do miracles?

Were the miracles more "miracles" than what people do know that get their Sainthood?

The catholics teach false doctrine on this.

The Bible calls EVERY CHRISTIAN, along with several people during Old Testiment times "saints."

Ro 1:7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ro 8:27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

Ro 15:25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the saints there. 26 For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

1Co 6:1 If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints? 2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?

1Co 14:33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints,

There are some many definitions of a saint and really there are very much saints in the world no matter what religion. There are alot of people that call themselves saints and they try their best to"help mankind" but really you should really see how they treat others behind closed doors and also when the camara's are off. Saints these days don't really have to do miracles, most of the time they are just people who passionately help others and treat others as they want to be treated and also stand up for what they believe in and they don't resort to violence. They are the "perfect" picture of the "perfect" person. Really if you want to know the truth some religions consider you a saint just because you accepted the religion. Christians consider themselves to be saints because every christian is a saint in god's eyes as long as they do what he asks of them.

These are good questions.

Generally, a saint is a true follower of God. touched by the holiness of God, selected by God. A saint may be relatively quiet yet powerful, like Therese of Lisieux or Mother Teresa of Calcutta, or she/he may be a trailblazer or a warrior like Joan of Arc or Martin Luther King, Jr., or an unknown like the sweet ol' grandma next door or your child's kindergarten teacher or that honest butcher.

All true saints are saints while they're alive!--at least as far as I know. However, some churches, like the Roman Catholic Church, will not start to officially recognize a saint until he or she has died. Other churches, like some Protestant churches, state that all who truly believe in Christ are saints, and refer to their own congregation members as saints. The Old Testament referred to true followers of God as saints, and these were usually Jews.

How many saints are there? Too many to count! Revelation 7 notes a special class of saints of 140,000 (Jews, I believe), plus an innumerable number of people from all nationalities and languages wearing white robes, carrying palm branches, and praising God. The holiday All Saints Day, November 1, pays tribute to all the saints, known and unknown. (Halloween, October 31, means All Hallows (All Saints) Eve.)

What did they do? Numerous things. Some fought wars; some fought for peace. Some rescue people; some taught people; some spent much time with God in secluded prayer. God has a variety of tasks which he doles out to invididuals, as well as tasks done by communities. Basically, saints loved God, and followed or obeyed him to the best of their ability.

How do you become a saint? Jesus said, "Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself." You can't do this on your own strength; you must ask Jesus to come into your heart, and he'll send the Holy Spirit to live inside you and to guide, protect, help, and love you.

Do saints do miracles? Yes, but some miracles aren't as obvious as others. You might not part the sea or cure a sick person in an instant--though maybe you will!--but you might soften a Scrooge-like heart, or help angry people to reconcile, or start a program that feeds the hungry or teaches the poor. You might do something as small as be kind to a neighborhood child, and that might make a big difference.

To become a saint, spend some time alone with God and invite Jesus into your life. Remember that love, faithfulness, and mercy are more important than anything else!

A person has to be dead to be canonized a saint. I believe they must perform at least 3 miracles to be considered for sainthood, and if you look at the hagiography, those were some pretty big miracles. I think you could also be considered for sainthood if you were martyred.

The Holy Catholic Church does not claim to "make" anyone a saint. It does sometimes canonize a particular person, which simply means they officially declare that the deceased person is in fact a saint, based on the exemplary holiness of their life on earth. Several thousand have been canonized. However, every person who enters heaven is thereby a saint, regardless of whether they are ever officially canonized or not.

The Bible also uses the term "saint" to describe the members of the Christian Church on earth. So does the Catholic Church. We on earth are called "the saints militant", meaning that we are still waging the battle against sin, just as Paul described so clearly, while those who are already in heaven are called "the saints victorious".

Once you become a child of God. You are a saint. You do not have to die to become a saint. We don't do miracles. We pray for miracles.

A saint is anyone who is a Christian. Some people think that it's like the disciples or something, but it really just means that you're a born again Christian.

If you plan to practice a religion and perform the rituals they preach then that is where you need to go for your answers.

If you are a Christian and study the Word of God, (which is Jesus Christ if you did not know), then by all means follow in the steps of Jesus Christ. To have faith in Jesus means that you must prove it by acting like a Christian. Study to show yourself approved.

I am a Christian who just so happens to be a saint just like all the people who love God and practice His Commandments. We are all Saints.

I'm alive as they are. Please don't be fooled by religion. God does not like religion as it breaks His Commandants.

If its not in the Word its not for you. Its that simple. Only a short time left in this Earth Age so get to it.><>

Search the web for "hagiography." You can learn about the lives of the saints. This is indeed a fascinating subject. Do you want to specialize in this area? or maybe it can become one of your hobbies? You'll enjoy it -- definitely NOT boring. ;-)

Later: after posting this, I saw the replies above. Isn't it interesting how late-comers in the Christian faith hate the Mother that spawned them? They should thank her for keeping their Holy Book safe for them so that they can find verses with which to attack her. LOL
