I haven't died my hair for a couple of months and am thinking about dying it again. I used to dye my hair every few months for 8 years before that. My hair is feeling a little more healthy but the color is very blah. Im wondering if I keep dying my hair, will I pay for that later in life?

You might want to try a more natural hair color like Henna,, Im a stylist and if your not trying to cover grey and just want to get a little omfff, or lift in highlights try that or a semi permanent hair color. If you have more or less virgin hair, please consult a profesional, or you might get unsatisfactory results with the over the counter hair care products.Okey???

I don't think it would be a problem - just make sure you don't bleach it too often and if using a colour for it, check to make sure it doesn't have too much peroxide in it - I think all or most dye contain some peroxide but too much can be harmful if used too often.

If your hair isn't breaking, snapping or coming out in clumps etc, then I'd say it's okay to dye it. One thing you can do if you're worried is have a month where you use good shampoos and conditioners, use hair treatments (there's some great ones out there that aren't too expensive) and then dye it.

Just remember, all dyes remove some of the healthy-condition of your hair - they do dry your hair out somewhat so try to use a good quality conditioner or hair-masque after dying it. Plus there are now some shampoos and conditioners designed for specific hair-colour - I don't know if they work - They've only just come out on the market in Australia.

Hope this helps somewhat.

If you are using permanent dye, it will damage your hair every time you dye it. The peroxide/bleaching agents will dry it out and make it fragile and brittle. If you normally have thick healthy hair there will be less damage than for someone with naturally thin hair, but there will still be damage. As to long-term damage, the dye will only damage hair that is exposed to it, not the hair which has not yet grown. Big "however": hair dye is highly carcinogenic--it can cause cancer, and experts recommend that people avoid dying their hair at all until they are covering greys to reduce the risk of illness. So, you may pay for it later in life if you dye too much.

It won't be dangerous as long as what you are using is good. Don't use **** you get at Hot Topic.. Or any place similar. You might want to get it done professionally but if that isn't an option just pick up some hair dye at CVS. I did to make my hair go from black to blonde! It looks great and is not damaged at all. It takes a bit to make it the exact color you want.. But If you keep repeating the dying of it it will become what you want.

Adding high quality color can be helpful and healthful to your hair. But making sure that the cut is maintained and the crispy ends are trimmed off.

If you bleach it, it will not improve the condition of your hair.

The hair on your head is dead so, you are not doing any damage that you will regret later. Heck, it's just hair.

If you dye your hair a lot like every week then it makes the hair fall out faster than it would normally bet if you don't do it so often then you are okay.

Of course it damages it to some degree, but if you have a professional color your hair for you they can deep condition it to help protect from the damage. I get mine hi-lighted every 2-3 months and it is fine. The coloring actually helps add volume to my hair for a couple weeks and refreshes the fading ends of my hair (from the sun)

i think it all depends on your hair type. for example, my sister straightens her hair every day and she has dyed it at least 30 times--i'm not kidding! her hair is still beautiful and soft.
as for me, i've died my hair 3 times and it's dry. i'd be careful with your hair type--mine is very wavy, so it could just be me.

do what you want--and get a good shampoo/conditioner like Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal...it's good. I'd also use a leave in conditioner.

Like Anirbas said, it's dead anyway. But if you dye often, be sure to moisturize it a lot otherwises it's going to turn wiry looking.
