I feel ya, I dealt with people like this all through high school too, and was surprised that so many of them tried to keep it up in college too.
1) You could take the high road and try to reason with her. Corner her and calmly ask her flat out why she acts this way to you - is there something she thinks you said/did that you could set her straight on? You don't care if she likes you, (which is good cuz she's a biyatch) but at least you attempted to set things right - if she avoids answering or is still bitchy, it's on her karma, not yours.
2) Indifference. Ignore her, and when her name comes up in coversation, state that you don't know why she doesn't like you, because you have nothing against her. Someone might offer insight to why she's such a biyatch, or let her know she's mistaken about you.
3) Rejoice that you are nothing like her. Be happy that you are not such a mean, petty person, and strive every day to be not like her. Then someday you can go up to her and thank her, sincerely, for showing you what not to become.
College is a big world - hopefully you'll have to see less of her as time goes on.

You are right you would think that this would only happen in high school. However, you will probably always find people like this. More than likely she is only acting this way because of her own insecurities. Try to be as nice as possible to her and if that doesn't work just ignore her. It may sound harsh but no one needs that kind of negativity in there life.

The best revenge is to be a sucess...
First hand experience here:
A woman hated me and as the new girl, told everyone that I was a slut who couldn't get a real boyfriend.
I worked hard...NEVER did i respond to her claims (even a little bit)...i fought back with my actions. Not only was I disinterested in the men around me, but I didn't even tell them I DID have a boyfriend. It was only when I came in with my engagement ring and someone ELSE said, where did you get that ring? and I said, oh, i got engaged, did she feel so much like a heel!
Not only was she dead wrong, she didn't even have any good information. She came off like the liar she is to everyone else and I didn't even have to open my mouth. Everyone got excited about my wedding and no body paid attention to her.
So the moral of the story is to be a success in whatever way you can, and as it becomes apparent that this hateful person is just stupid, the tide will turn in your favor...

Why waste your time on someone that you probably don't want to know or need to know. Life is too short to worry about people who are self centered. Enjoy your days/nights and make the most out of the friends that you have and will continue to make and meet through-out your life. The friends that you have today will still be there years from now. Enjoy and have fun.

So, you're an man or woman which makes your sister a good older man or woman. i'd ask why you're both residing at your father and mom' abode. ignore about your sister. If she tells you to bathe something, do not do it. If she tries to argue, don't have interaction in arguing which includes her. merely say "i appreciate you" for wonder fee and go do something else (ideally something that is composed of making noise like operating the vacuum or using an iPod. in case you cry, you're giving he what she needs, and she or he wins. in case you act frightened of her, similar project. in case you argue, you're also giving her what she needs - better gas to proceed appearing like a moron Why no longer positioned her on ignore about? even as she is hateful and bossy, you could smile at her and say something like "oh"... then walk away. she will provide up her habit eventually. speaking lower back will merely provide her delight.

She is jealous of you for something, may it be your looks, your personality or just the way you look at things. I have found the best way I deal with people like this is to kill them with kindness. People like this get sooo mad when they can not get under your skin. It doesn't hurt to throw in a few nice but sarcastic comments to them to put them on the spot. Continue being who you are, you don't seem to be the kind to act in this juvenile manner and eventually she is going to tire of it....and you come out smelling like a rose.

Some people hate for no reason. You just don't fit to their way of life. the 2 ways I'm thinking of are ignoring her (although you said it will be hard for you) or to wait for her in a dark ally and make sure she won't bother you again

Sounds to me like she's intimidated by you...you must have something going for you that she doesn't...the best way to deal with those type people is basically ignore them..although you stated that you didn't like to do that , sometimes it's necessary!

It's her problem, not yours. Just ignore her. She wants you to act on her hate. If you ignore her, she'll eventually forget about you. Avoid the psycho.

Quit being such a "pleaser". If she is hateful, then why deal with her at all?
Be polite and civil, but don't waste another moment trying to make her like you.
