As a former DJ I can tell you that the dance itself is no big deal. However, the gosip about who is not there lasts for the entire week after the dance. Go to the dance, if you go to your friends house you will just end up talking about what those fools at the dance are doing anyway.

then by all means go to the dance. have fun! even if you dont know how to very well, no body really pays attention. just follow your own stuff. and if you screw up laugh it off if you make a big deal about it so will they..... bring the girl you like too

Do what you really want to. Dances aren't every night though, so maybe you should get out with your friends and enjoy yourself.You can go to your friends house any time.Ask him/her along.

Is your friend a hot girl and walk around her house in her underwear?
If yes then by all means go to your friends house.
If no then by all means take your friend out with you to the dance.

if it's your best friend or a really close/good friend and he/she was asking you with alot of hope, go to your friend's house.or you can always spend half of your time at the dance and the other half at your friends place.......
