In Hinduism, Kali is one of the three principle gods alongside Brahma and Shiva. The representations of Kali are generally quite gruesome, usually including a necklace of human heads and holding a sword dripping with blood. She is one of the few deities to whom animal sacrifice is still offered.

But to many Hindus, she is revered as a "mother" goddess and the personification of the feminine force in nature.

Kali is said to wipe away delusion and the decapetated heads you see on her don't mean she's horrible but a goddess for enlightining people. Read about some of the Indian Sages of the last two centuries devoted to her. They are very inspiring tales

Kali is the goddess of time; she also rules over death.

She also happens to be one of my favorite of the Hindu deities.

She is a form of the Goddess Parvati - Durga

Kali represents Angry form of all-loving God. Kali is destructive power of God. God uses his destructive power to eliminate rising evil and bring back righteousness.

Kali also represents victory of Good over evil.
