If a person becomes born of God & yet has a smoking problem, that person will not go to hell. Person only smells like he's been there.
Salvation (eternal life) is a free gift of God to be received & not by works or being good enouph. Once a child of God, always a child of God.
He who destroys / defile his body, God will destroy / defile. So, if a person smokes, person will reap what person sows. In this life. If person doesn't quit & dies & stands before God. Sin will not go to heaven, so as works get tested by fire the perishable will get fried & not go to heaven. What will go to heaven & receive rewards are the things done that are everlasting. Things rooted in Love, Faith & Hope, etc...
When I came back to God, I found it difficult to quit the nicotine habit. After many attempts, when I made a song out of God's Word / Promises, God delivered me from that addiction. So the whole trick in overcoming an addiction, is to say / sing out loud God's promises. This is submitting to God. Submit unto God, resist Satan & Satan flees. The song that gave me the deliverence was simple. I'm not under law of sin & death, I am under grace. In everything I do in word or deed, I will do in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. After I sang that song, I never have had tobacco since. I submitted to God's Word & Satan fled. That was enough for me to never touch tobacco again. That was about 14 years ago.

That is so ridiculous that it really doesn't warrant a response. Howerver there is a right answer and this answer can be applied to many future questions about the Christian intent and punishment, for lack of better word. In Paul's letter to the Romans, chpt 14, verse 14, He is very clear on these matters. listen to your heart closely as you read. "i know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus Christ, that no act, in and of itself is a sin. Lest you believe it a sin, then for you, a sin it is. If I wake everyday and do the best I can to behave as i've been taught, no matter what that is, I'm doing right by the Lord. Period. it goes on to explain, that if You believe an act is a sin, your brother believes not, it is none of your business to say otherwise, he has his great intentions, you have yours, only God can decide and if you condemn your brither, it is you that is behaving in a sinful way. Peace, Brach S

Here is the deal. Sin is what condemns a person to Hell. Now the bible really has a huge gray area when it comes to things like that. When that happens, listen to your conscience, if it is against your conscience, or better judgment as some people would call it, then yes it is a sin. Going against your conscience is gonna be a sin. Another thing to keep in mind is, if it is gonna cause someone else to sin, even though its not a sin in and of itself, if it causes someone else to sin, then it is a sin for you too.
Now personally, I don't think smoking is a sin or that it'll send you to hell or anything like that, but I do think that it is a stupid stupid thing to do.

I'm a Christian and a Non-Smoker and I believe that smokers can get into heaven.
The Bible says there are alot of things that could earn you a seat in hell.
The key is forgiveness of those sins through faith in Christ.

Personally, smoking will make you smell like you've been there but does not guarantee a one way ticket to Hell.

The only way to get into Heaven is to give all of your assets to churches. Nothing else matters.
