Harm of getting burned -Engineering professors at California State Polytechnic University measured the peak temperature on the underside of a typical laptop computer at a whopping 139.8° Fahrenheit, more than enough to sustain a third-degree burn after just 30 seconds. Even with your slacks or skirt in between, the threat of a serious burn is still very real. It is true in the case of a Swedish scientist who rested his laptop computer on his lap for just an hour needed medical treatment for extensive blistering of penis and scrotum.Read here:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/2503291.stm

I think it probably does more damage to your computer than your body in the short run. Your computer has a high chance of overheating. In terms of the male reproduction system, sperm dies by the millions per day due to their short life span so I doubt it'd cause too much damage unless the male's sperm count is already low due to other health problems. I'm not quite sure about pregnant women.

The only serious injury I can think of from using a laptop on your lap would result from slamming it shut...
