To quote Redd Foxx. At least they are pure of heart. And if they're not too smart, they can't do much damage.

On the contrary, ignorance is a very dangerous thing...witness all the ignorant christians trying to get the schools to teach either creationism or "intelligent design" as science...sheesh.

I think "best christian" is an oxymoron. :)

Ideally, no. In practicality, maybe.

Jesus told us to be "as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves." He wants us to be clever yet harmless. However, he also said, "The children of the world are shrewder than the children of the light when dealing with their own kind." He knew that many times pure-hearted Christians (and Christians not-so-pure-hearted!) would fall short in the smarts department.

This doesn't mean at all that God wants his people to be stupid! Knowledge and wisdom are valued in the Bible, but love is valued above everything.

Matthew 10:16 (NIV)
"I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves."

Luke 16:8-9 (New International Version)
8"The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light. 9I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings."

1 Corinthians 13:2 (New International Version)
2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

i don't know if i really understand the question but i think you are asking if christians, at their worst are at least harmless. hmmm. I'll ignore the slanderous sounding slant on the question. At one time in history, Christians killed non-believers. They have faught many wars. If there whole ideaolody is wrong then i submit to you that a huge damage can and has been done. Stay looking in the direction of light but don't blind yourself with an expectation of easy answer.
Peace, Brach S

read the bible, read it 50 times. you quote a man, not the bible, you need prayer and clarity. you need to truly be around Christians for a long long time before you judge any of them. you must not be a Christian or a believer in the bible for all that you keep doing, yet people who mock Christ or Christians get mad if we correct them biblically, if you stop slamming us we would leave you alone. this is a slam so we have a right to defend ourselves.

SO TRUE! SO TRUE! But, they can do so much damage with their narrowmindedness. Think about it: you want an OPEN parachute or a CLOSED parachute watching your back?
