I'd like to hear from people who have come across this phenomenon of focused intention to manifest things in your life (anything, such as money, luck, opportunities, love, etc)! Has it worked? What sort of books have you read? Talk to me :)

Sorry I dunno how to respond to ppl individually?? Thanks heaps for ur responses esp Megami, Retro and Chris!! I realise it's not about being lazy and idle and having magic bring things into your life. I just find it really hard to focus and change my extremely negative thinking (and subconscious), just wondering how it has worked for everyone else? And how much do you all swear by it? Thanks again for taking the time to write such detailed responses :) and will take your advice on board, esp the other books that retro recommended :)

You have to work on your negative thoughts/expectations. Like attracts like. Negative thoughts and emotions can attract other negative vibrations into your life. Even if you did a kick@ss money spell, it might not work because you don't expect it to. Work on promoting feelings of warmth, affection, and acceptance within yourself and eventually let it project out from your body slowly.
Another important thing to keep in mind is that manifestation can take time. Don't expect that you will see results immediately. It could take from 2 months to a year. The manifestation is the result of the spell or mental practice and you can't be half-@ss about working for what you need. If you only do the spell and don't do anything else, how can you expect to acheive your goal? Like if you did a spell to find a good job and then just watched TV for 3 months. How can you reasonably expect a good job to find you? You also have to go out and apply for jobs, post your resume on the Web and all that jazz. Magick is mostly just a suppliment. Sometimes you get lucky and it does all the work for you, but most times you have to show that you mean business.

Nice question!
I know that Dr. Wayne Dyer is hardcore on the power of intention, but he's kinda way out there, and hard for me to understand.

The person that I attribute the most to my understanding of manifestation is Marianne Williamson, who wrote the book "A Return to Love". It's an absolutely fabulous book that outlines the philosophies from the self-study program A Course In Miracles.

Without drowning you with too much detail, the idea is that you experience what you set up. You create your own experiences through what you think. In other words, everything that happens in your life is a direct result of what you expect. We often sabotage our experiences because of our subconscious negativity. As we mature and learn more about ourselves, we understand that the ONLY way to change our experiences is to change our minds.

And that's not easy.. I'll be the first to tell you.

But, I've certainly changed my subconscious thoughts about things in my life, and the experience changed 180 degrees! almost immediately, and immediately in some cases.

In order to change your subconscious thoughts, you must be willing to challenge yourself, to see yourself clearly, without sugar-coating, to be aware. When you become aware of who you are, you will also see what you want. And through the alignment of both, you will be able to bring into your life what you want, because you're no longer disillusioned or manipulated.

i have read many books, and found just about everything in the new age section to be garbage. i look to philosophy and history.
I am a Celtic Pagan.

i have found that manifestation of things in your life is really a mental preperation to make yourself able to achieve goals.

example.

If i want to manifest a positive energy in my house. i do a smudging ritual and fan the smoke of burning sage all through my house. and then i focus my thoughts on positive energy comming to my house.

some i believe is brought, but doing this prepairs my mind to act in a positive way. the end result is that i gain a positive attitude and influence positive events in my life.

if i visualise a new big screen tv, and i do it enough, then my desire for it will grow, and i will be more apt to save the money to go buy one.

i am of the school that does not believe in useing magic for personell gain, so i willnot do a ritual for a new tv or a better job.
i may visualise it and use that meditation to change my mental perspective to a state where i may be able to get that job or tv.

i use ritual and magic to bring positive energy to my home and my life so that i can live happy and free of negative emotions and feelings.

hope this helps.

You have been manifesting all along. I do not care for the term "New Age". I feel it is a commercialization of New Thought, and metaphysics in general. Having said that:

The Science of Mind, by Ernest Holmes.

Barnes and Noble should have it, as well as others. Seek in your heart, and you will find what you need...books will come to you, or you will come across them; type The Science of Mind in your search box. Seek in your beautiful mind first, and the good will be revevaled.

Of course it works, if you try hard enough.

You have to believe it works to have it work, and, yes, I'm being serious.

I know if I didn't believe that it would work all those times for me, it wouldn't.

There are FAR too many books on this sort of things, but, it's more of a MAGICK question than a NEW AGE question.

You should get yourself together, your mother is right and trying to help you. You should try educating yourself and get a job if you don't have one. Working hard is not a sin and try putting something positive in your life chuck the grass.

I tried many things in my life, but there's nothing better than praying God to resolve your things!

Good luck!
