Why should the death of one man be remembered more fondly (even more than his own life, which is a big unknown), when many have really sacrificed their own life for their representing groups, nations, families, ideas, etc? How about the Greeks at the Thermopilae? Gandhi? Marie Curie? Vercingetorix? Archimedes?
Is it fair for a god to say: I give you one life for all the millions that have died? If Jesus was his son, according to the Bible, aren´t we also? Or do we really need a virgin birth to qualify? Did he even exist? Curiosity again, no offense meant, it´s a philosophical issue... What do you think and how do you reinforce your beliefs?

it is not so much a philosophical issue as a theoligical one

christian theology holds that Jesus was God incarnate, that he was capable of immortality, and that he laid down his life in a sacrament of atonement that paid the price of all mankinds sin

his perfection and his godliness made this possible

so, per christian theology, no other death or deaths is similar, because no other perfect gods have died

and no one else could perform this saving act for all mankind

so, if you subscribe to the theology, then the philosophical question does not exist, and if you don't subscribe to the theology, then there is no point for discussion

clearly the death of some man named jesus would not be of continues interest

You perhaps know the Bible better than you think. I John 3 v. 1 reads as follows: "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him." If you knew Him, you would realise that Jesus is the one human being capable of making atonement for the sin of mankind. The sin of one man brought death into the world: the death of one man conquered death in the sense that Christian believers have eternal life. You can never speak in terms of God being fair or unfair. He makes the rules!

Have a bible on ya?
If u don't know how 2 use a bible, get ur grandma (; or sum 1 who knows how, or just read...
romans 3:23 says "For the wages of sin is death"

That means that is u sin, basically, you die.

Here, I looked up sin, and here's what my dictionary says:

Verb: Sin, Sinned, Sinning
commit a faux pas or fault
Synonyms: blunder, goof (Literally!)

Ever heard of the adam and eve story?
You know, the one about the naked guy and gal in the bible.

adam and eve were real.

They "sinned"-taking the apple from the tree-and, so, they had a punishment.

You see, just cuz they wanted to please them selves and do what they wanted even though it's wrong, they HAD to have a punishment.

let's read on.

romans 3:24
yet God in his glorious standard declares us NOT GUILTY.
ok, wassup wid dat?!
read on...
he hs done this thourgh CHRIST JESUS by taking away our sins.
(Or, by dying on the "cross")

Ok, so, now u say, so, just because we were naughty boys and girls, we have to die, but god died for us. I still don't get it.

God knew what we did was wrong. So, he sent his son, so we all don't have to die for doing bad stuff.

I hope that's not too simple.

Jesus' death wuz the most important death IN HISTORY because he took (literally!) all the bad stuff that ever would happen and has happend on his shoulders...

...For us.
If that's not awesome, I don't know what 2 tell ya.
anymore questions? Go 2 ur nearest church.

Your premise is that Jesus was just a son of God. Christianity is based on the belief that Jesus Christ was, and is, God the Son; co-equal, co-eternal, present with and participating in the creation of the universe with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.

The whole purpose in God wrapping Himself in humanity and coming to earth was to restore us to fellowship with Himself. As the Jews sacrificed a lamb as an atoning sacrifice for sin, Jesus, God the Son, appeared on earth as Messiah, the restorer of grace and mercy, to free us from a system of laws and ceremony that was designed to enable us to talk and walk with the Creator. The cross of Calvary accomplished this.

Christianity is the fulfillment of the Jewish law and tradition...this idea is powerful enough, indeed....

He was sinless, since sin comes from the man, and Jesus was born from a virgin, he was sinless. Yes, all saved people are his children, but you have to be ABSOLUTELY sin free to do what Jesus did.

His death is more memorable because: 1. He's God. 2. He paid for all those other death and any future deaths with his blood, allowing people come to heaven. (Providing you know God.)

Hope that answers you question.

Death by crucifixion was one of the most painful experiences imaginable, and Jesus' suffering on the cross was far more agonizing that anything most of us will ever have to endure.

But Jesus' physical suffering was only a sign of a much deeper kind of suffering He was enduring: the suffering of His spirit. When Jesus died, the face of His heavenly Father was hidden, and He was torn from the presence of God. He who had enjoyed unbroken fellowship with His Father in heaven from all eternity now faced Hell itself. This was His real agony—an agony far deeper than that which any other person has ever endured.

Why did He have to endure so much suffering? The reason is because all our sins were placed on Him, and when He suffered and died He was taking upon Himself the punishment we deserve. You and I only deserve judgment and hell—but He took our judgment and hell upon Himself. The Bible says, "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us" (2 Corinthians 5:21). He took your place!

Why did He do this? He did it because of love! He loves us, and He wants us to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Sin is serious—so serious that it sent Jesus to the cross. But God's love is greater, and because of Jesus' death and resurrection we can be saved. Turn to Christ and accept Him into your life today.

Because this one man as you called Him, Is the son of God who layed His life down of His own free will, so we can have eternal life with Him in heaven. My belief comes from my faith in God and in His son Jesus who is alive today. Praise the Lord. Jesus gives me eternal life, while all those others you mentioned give me nothing. They can't do anything for me when it comes to eternity. But Jesus can and has.

We are indeed Sons by adoption. Jesus death was vastly more important because He , through His death and reserection defeated death for the rest of us.

If we believe, we will not die but, have life everlasting.

We are worth a Son to God.

Gods son was the only one with out sin, He didn`t die for good people, He came to die for sinners, It wasen`t that he died for a chosen few, like these people did, he died for all mankind, so that they could have HOPE for eternal LIFE, not just for a better life while they lived, but for an ETERNAL life as KINGS, to live like royality, not ever to be put down, or hurt, or kicked around anymore by others, BUT to be in a place where we could be safe and happy for ever more.
