1. It's almost certainly against your state law to work you 8 hours without providing a meal break and 2 short breaks. You need to talk to your employer and state labor commission or board, whatever they call it. Your employer is required to post these regulations and the appropriate agency's contact info where all employees can see it.

2. Even if you absolutely cannot take any breaks, you are around food all day. Are you telling me you cannot get your hands on something and nibble here or there as you work? It's not busy for 8 straight hours is it? I used to work in the restaurant biz and there were always a couple of slow hours in any 8 hour shift.

You don't get a break with your whole 8 hour shift?

.. quit for job?

Seriously, WOW!.. A person shoudl be able to eat small portions every 4 hours or so. Could you talk to your boss?

I agree and just looked it up, it is illegal. That is horrible.

You've just answered your own question. If you don't get a break your whole 8 hour shift, use that to your advantage and just keep yourself hydrated with vitamin water or plain ole water. Munch on small things like celery sticks or carrot sticks. You can carry these around with you and they don't need to be kept cold.

It depends on what state you live in. In California, an eight hour shift requires two breaks, and a thirty minute lunch.

As much as your on your feet and running around to make orders etc...look for a protein shake to drink while at work. Together the two should make you feel a little energy, give you substance in your stomach, when you don't have the time!

first of all, it is illegal for an employer to make you work 8 hours without a lunch/dinner break (check with EEOC, its a govt agency).
second, with no break for 8 hours, its kind of a forced diet!

You don't get a break? Can u kind-of-like nibble in-between waiting..? Snack on crackers/tuna salad. Something like that. Because, when yr off- then you probably are more apt to pig-out!
