To answer all the wacko answers here.....Cats do not have taste buds, they go for smells and the chase of it....

A lot of people considered it too cruel to use mice to flavor it properly. There were a lot of interesting SPCA debates about the testing of getting the flavor and all that.
Weird, considering that people feed pet snakes mice all the time....

Because no one has ever tasted a mouse, to imitate the flavor. No sane person would want to taste a mouse...

Good question it seems like they would maybe they don't want to breed mice for cat food. I always wonder when they say on a commercial," NEW,better tasting". Who did the tasting????? My cat seems to like squirrel. He finds fresh road kill here then eats them. He also love venison burger.

cats would actually prefure a piece of chicken over a mouse.if it's dead.and cooked. .. cats are attracted by fast movement and mice birds ect... move fast and catch there eyes...they chase them and usually play with them after there dead and never eat them .. some do don't get me wrong .. but mine brings it to me as a gift for feeding her so she feeds me back .. very giving.. hope you understand..proude owner of 3 ..
