I notice that some cities have areas of prostitution, its obvoius and the police see it too, some even drive through. So why do they allow it? Its breeds drugs and crime.

By overlooking it, or not overly enforcing it in some areas, they help to keep it away from areas where it could be very problematic....like in white neighborhoods.....j/k.....ok, only a little bit, not saying it's what they should do, but come on, just look around folks and you'll see what's happening....not saying it's right, just admitting that's what's going on. But seriously, it's like when they use to block off the streets to allow drag racing. They're admiting they can't stop it 100%, so why not just keep it quarantined to a certain area so as to do the least amount of harm.

There are some areas (Nevada) that allow prostitution. Also, police can't stop all the crime. In an area with little crime, their resources can be spent trying to catch all the criminals. But some areas have a large concentration of crime. If their is a large prostitution problem, drug dealing problem, and gang problem, prostitution is not their main priority.

Because unfortunately police departments everywhere are understaffed and they simply don't have enough people to handle the prostitution problem in addition to the myriad of other issues the public wants them to deal with. It's simply a matter of priority. Stopping domestic abuse, preventing violent crimes, stopping drug sales, etc...these have higher priority. Until the public is willing to pay to properly fund police departments so that they can get more officers out there, some areas are just going to have prostitution or other lesser crimes.

For the same reason they overlook a lot of crime such as when their "friends" are breaking the law. Also, they might be pimping the beotches and don't want to destroy that all important second income by bustin' the ho's!
