I believe the main Idea of the di vinci code was out of all the thirty or more Gospels that where written only three where put in the bible, there are many more out there that challenge the validity of those that where put in the bible, the Gospel of Judas is just one of them, and that is one Gospel the religious organizations do not want to their flocks to see or read about, the truth is out there and the religious world dose not want to deal with it, so the religious world continues to keep their head in the sand and preach about something that just may or may not be true, one must remember that truth can sometimes be vary harm full, and in this case destroy the whole religious system that so many of us hold so dear to our hearts in what we believe in, man is simply not ready for that truth yet.

1) the book is fiction.
2) yes, that means its mostly made up.
3) even though its connected to real stuff, its mostly fabrication
from what I've read (not actually read the book or seen the movie yet) the idea of it is that mary and jesus were a couple, and that at the crucifixion, Mary Magdalene was pregnant with jesus's daughter.
and that after he was crucified, she went to france, and raised the daughter there.
and that theres some big fancy mysterious conspiracy to conceal and track the bloodline of jesus through his daughter, to modern day,
and that the "holy grail" was mary, "receiving" the "blood" of jesus in the form of carrying his "blood" in the form of a child.
the interesting and tricky part, and why its so contraversial, is that there are some people who belive some parts of this REALLY are true. from what I understand theres a place in france that the residents belive that mary did indeed come there relatively soon after the crucifixion, with a young girl, inferred to be her daughter, and raised her there.
and there were real groups called the templars and such, and alot of things that even without the fiction wrapped around them, do seem rather... interesting, when looked at them in a certain light.
personally I think the jesus having a baby with mary thing is very possible.
but I also think he could have very well faked his death, and then moved to the east and lived out his days there, (possibly even marrying ... er, again? heh)
honestly in my opinion, the idea of jesus having never fathered a child is bizzare. the royal bloodline was already so sparse by that point, (though, from my understanding both joseph and mary were arguably of that line... which yes, means they would have been distant cousins or something)
it'd be strange for someone of his stature not to.
(all details on the book/movie is from watching tv shows about the whole deal, so I hope theres no spoiling here...)
