Buy the lice spampoo from any drug store. If your friend has long thick hair, I would advice not using the plastic comb that comes in the box to get out the eggs. You will just break the teeth out and have a reinfestation. I would suggest buying a new metal cat flea comb, it works the same as the plastic one that comes in the box but will never break. This way you will for sure get out all the eggs. It also dosen't hurt to retreat the area in case you missed an egg, Sometimes the shampoo dosen't kill all the eggs, so if one is left, your friend can be reinfested.

i would NOT reccomend these pestacide lice treatments. lice are becoming more and more immune to this stuff(and they dont kill eggs!). the best thing to do is look for produces with no pestacides , they are usually t-tree things.cover the hair in t-tree conditioner and leave it in , lice find it hard to hold onto the hair, get a good nit comb and go thro the hair section by section, wiping it clean between each stroke. you will also have to check the hair for eggs which the lice glue firmly onto the hair. this wont solve the problem right away thought. you will need to do this afew times to get rid of any hatched lice as its easy to miss eggs.

go immediately to wal-mart or a pharmacy type place and get something called RID. follow the directions. this is a pesticide and can be dangerous if misused. also, strip all linens and wash in HOT water..wash all hats, brushes, combs..really sanitize well and watch for eggs cause if you don't get them you will have another outbreak in a couple of days....Lice love clean hair...its not that your friend is nasty..its the ones with greasy hair that do not get lice. I am a licensed cosmetologist and have dealt with this before. also, there is a spray for linens that can not be washed..be careful if there are small children or animals in the house. you can place stuffed animals or pillows in large plastic bags and place them in a freezer for 10-12 hours and it should kill the infestation.

tell her to get some tea trea oil shampoo from a trader joe's or wholefoods. maybe she could put it in her hair, then watch a movie or something so the tea tree oil has a chance to kill all the lice.
good luck!

Simple way to do it, shave your "friend's" head, have them wash off, and decontaminate everything in their room/home. Why spend money on shampoo when you can have fun with razors???
