Just losing weight is pretty simple.
#1- do not buy into any stupid diets or pills. Dieting is not that complicated, the only cost is discipline, and although difficult its free. Most of those pills are dangerous and idealistic.....
Theres no way around just being disciplined and determined and making changes in your diet and excersize. You must accept that and be willing to change it or its NEVER going to happen. Harsh maybe but true.
#2 - EXCERSIZE. Absolute most important thing you can do. Learn to love it, its healthy, and clearing the body also clears the mind, its very true that you can even take care of stress with excersize. Just jogging or stairmaster everyday 30 minutes and try to push yourself, dont take it like at 4mph and jog-walk....if you cant do 30 minutes, do your maximum and improve over time.
#3 - Cut out unecesary calories and fats. If you drink soda, stop altogether- dramatically cut down. If soda is part of daily life or common, you will begin to notice the difference when its substituted with something else.. Drink water or juice instead. Not even diet soda. Dont eat really fatty foods, particularly fast foods.
If youre big meateater, take much more often chicken instead of beef/pork, and grilled instead of fried. Fried food doesnt help things. Take it light on condiments (if youre one of those who has to drench things in ketchup for example, Dont.) But if you can help it, try to eat more vegetarian meals. Avoid unecesary cheese. If you absolutley cant go on another second without junk food (say pizza) eat less of it and dont eat the unecesary parts like pepperoni (salami)...
#4 - Drink lots of water - Hydration is really important to being healthy, being able to excersize and it does even help supress appetite a bit if thats a major problem
#5 - eat 3 times a day but dont snack, and if you must, eat fruit or vegetables as snack food. ONLY. Snacking in culture in general is one reason why Americans on average have weight issues.
Overall simple formula.....work more calories off, take less calories in and you will lose weight 10/10 times.

I love weight watchers!!! And I love it because it's something that you can keep doing after you lost the weight you want. The points system teaches you about portion control, which is one of our main problems as Americans- we eat too much. You get a daily set amount of points based on your weight and as long as you stay within the points range, you'll lose weight.
What's great is that they also tell you how much a serving size is in a practical way. For instance, a cup is the size of your palm. Plus, you can eat whatever you want! If you want a Heshey's bar, you can have it! They do teach you about what foods are good for you and which ones aren't, too. For instance, most veggies are 0 to 1 or 2 points. While a cup of Kraft mac and cheese is 12 points FOR ONE CUP!
I also love that I don't have to work out hardcore to lose weight on weight watchers, you'll do it just by following your points. You should work out though. Try varying your routine or picking up some interesting workout tapes. I got a bellydancing one and it's amazing cardio AND my guy loves when I do a routine for him from the moves I learned. Try salsa dancing or doing yoga too. Also, you know about the being active thing and it can get hard to workout all the time. So instead of using elevators, take the stairs. Walk during your lunch break or park your car at the far end of the lot.
Good luck!

Perhaps you can find some useful information in a web search for "how to lose weight the right way". You could probably spare at least 10 lbs and perhaps even as much as 20 lbs. Perhaps 2 years ago when you only weighed 9 stone you were a lot shorter. As you gain height you automatically gain weight but it does certainly sound as though your weight gains were much greater than what was warranted by your height gains.

Exercising at least once a day or 3 times a week, and eating foods from all the food groups, except sweets. Will possibly help you on the way to become healthy and lose weight. You can also look into getting a personal trainer or a friend to workout with you at the gym, who knows their way around one.

diet combined with exercise.
think logically:
calories are body fuel. excess/unspent calories eventually become fat. if you burn calories you dont have, you'll force your body to lose weight.
every single time you put anything in your mouth, realize that you are adding calories into your body. every can of coke you drink is an extra 155 calories you just put in. are you going to burn off those 155 calories? yeah, probably. but think about how that adds up.
if you want to lose weight, you must DECREASE the number of calories you take in, and you must INCREASE the amount of calories you burn. every activity adds up. say you work on the 2nd story. imagine the number of extra calories you'd burn every day by taking the stairs instead of the elevator. you need to find a way to burn as many calories as possible, while maintaining a regular schedule.
if you want to lose weight, you are going to have to be DEDICATED. there is no easy way out. there is no magic pill. there is no magic diet. there is no magic exercise.
watch what you eat, and exercise.

What have you tried so far?
I'd recommend cutting out too much fat & sugar. Try to eat lean meat (chicken & fish) grill it instead of frying. Eat more salads & fresh fruit. drink more water. Cut out chips & candies & fizzy juices, theya re all loaded with carbs.
Have a look at the Weight Watchers programme, it works. Then I'd get out & get some exercise, that always helps. Good luck

Look at exercise at something you have to do every day. Don't debate in your head if you feel like doing it or not, look at it as work or eating or sleeping; something you HAVE to do. Only with that mindset will you lose weight.

There ARE NO quick fixes. Forget diets etc. You KNOW there is only one way that works. Change your eating habits and excerise. Ask any doctor, you'll get the same answer. It's a matter of life-style change, willpower.

Reduce your current stress. Your stress hormone cortisol can be activated by extremely low-calorie eating plans, intense training, lack of sleep and day-to-day worries, which leads to a spike in glucose levels in your blood. More worryingly, it can help with blocked arteries and fat build-up around your internal organs, putting you in danger of diabetes and heart disease. The only real prescription for this is to… relax.
