i did the atkins too and lost loads of weight but your cholesterol does go up but it should settle down after a period of time, mines fine now and i still eat just the atkins gear, had it checked by doc recently and alls well for me, but make sure you have fish regularly and not just meat, various ways to cook it so its not bland, this does help as you can have oily fish which is good for you, and i know this might sound dopey but are you still getting plenty of water,, flushing the old system out regularly, variety even on the atkins helped me considerably, have ago

Think carefully before starting the Atkins or any diet similar to it. Lower carb can be a good idea, but cutting sugars, breads, yeast, pasta and starchy foods while maintaining healthy carbs such as whole grains may be a better plan than Atkins or the like.

Atkins cuts essential nutrients out of your diet, while not limiting any of the unhealthy oils and milkfats (butter, cheese, etc.) that should really be kept to a minimum. Extra virgin olive oil, fish, almonds and avocados, for example, all contain healthy fats that you should increase, while decreasing the other, unhealthy, fats.

If you really need to lose weight fast, try replacing meals with protein shakes - bananas, real fruit juice (no added sugar, corn syrup, etc.), fresh fruit, soy milk, soy protein and ice in the blender.

I know a couple of people who developed extremely painful kidney stones after being on an Atkins-type diet.

I highly recommend a healthy lifestyle change accompanied by exercise instead of a "diet".

Be careful with the adkins diet if you do choose to go back on this and adhere to it then take vitamin supplements and some Omega 3 and 6 to counter-act the cholesterol, the vitamins are to keep you from losing your hair and the Omega is for Cholesterol as well as vitamin E and C. If you are taking any perscription medications check with your doctor before going on atkins,as well as your risk of heart disease and or diabetes.
Good luck to you, hope I helped.
