No. Paul addresses this issue in I Corinthians 15:12-14 "Now if we preach that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you keep claiming there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised, and if Christ has not been raised, then our message means nothing and your faith means nothing."
The resurrection is THE central tenet of the Christian faith. Without it, we are just another dead religion.

Well I feel if you are a Christian you should believe in the resurection, because that is the idea upon which christianity was built on. Christ was resurected and he also brought lazaurus back from the dead. And also we christians believe that someday we all will be resurected once we died right. I feel that resurection is spiritual and not physical and I know that in the bible it says that he was resurected by a physical means cause his body was no where to be found, but I think they was talking in a methorical sense and that Mary seen Jesus in a spiritual sense because he appear as a full body appartion. If you do not believe resurection then the question is what do you think will happen when we died and what do you believe happen after Jesus died? And also what do you think will happen in the last days when Jesus comes back????? Because if you don't believe in the resurection then I am assuming you must not believe in any thing that is said in revelations.

When I was a Christian I recited the Apostles' Creed in church which affirms what a Christian believes. Part of this affirmation is acceptance of the resurrection. It goes:
I believe in God the Father Almighty; Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell. On the third day He rose from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
I'm not a theologian, but according to the Creed, I guess the answer to your question has to be 'No'.

What bit of the resurection, the resurection story is a bit vague, I reckon you need to believe Jesus Christ lived on earth and preached love God and love thy neighbour, turn the other cheek etc and to not belong to any other religion to be a Christian.

No, you can't. Doing that would be denying everything that Jesus came here to do. His death and resurrection was His entire mission. Our salvation depended on it! Without the resurrection, we have nothing. Zip, zilch, zero, over with, the game is over and we're screwed!
The resurrection is immortality. Without the resurrection, there is no Christianity. Jesus didn't come down here just to live a good life and leave us with some good advice and wish us the best. He came to die for us, and then rise from the dead. He came to defeat death! Through Him only do we have a chance at eternal life. That means FOREVER!
This is why we believe in Jesus. Did He have to die for us? No, not at all. But He did it anyway. Why? One simple reason: love.
And through His love, we, too, can and WILL live forever.
God bless.

Paul said "with out the Resurrection, our faith would be in vain." So I think the answer is no.
The Jesus Seminar tries to say yes, and liberal Christians say so, but the Resurrection is the central message of the Gospels. The early apostles spread the message the Jesus was bodily risen from the grave. They were persecuted and died for that belief.
Some people try to argue they thought Jesus was a really great guy and were persecuted for that, but it was the Resurrection they were teaching.

No. St Paul wrote that if there was no resurrection from the dead, then Christians would be the most wretched people of all, basing their whole life and faith on a lie. Christians can be certain of their resurrection because Jesus rose from the dead and appeared afterwards to many eye witnesses. Would those eye witnesses have been prepared to live and die for anything which was less than certain?

I personally don't understand how you can say you are a Christian and yet NOT believe in Christ's Resurrection, BUT so you'll know that I'm not judging you, I'm a Catholic who has trouble with the idea of reincarnation. (Catholics are taught that our souls are reincarnated UNTIL Judgment Day) So my answer is to follow your heart, pray for answers and don't let some of the hateful answers I bet your question will get, bother you. God Bless you in your quest.

Belief is difficult. If someone wants to be a Christian, but does not quite believe, then God will help them to believe. Thomas didn't believe in the resurrection, but Jesus still loved him. I'm glad Thomas was a disciple, because it gives me hope.

amber,
I wonder what someone would be basing their faith on, if it's not the Bible, which tells about the Resurrection.
I think that a person who thinks that they are Christian, and does not believe in the Resurrection is untaught. Whether it is because of newess to the Faith, or just not understanding.
