A few years ago i went out with this guy, but it didn't work out because we were very young. However, we have remained really close friends, and have grown closer and closer., until it eventually turned to love. I care about him so much, and he says he feels the same way, but there's a problem. Sometimes when i'm with him, he acts goofy for no apparent reason and it gets annoying. He knew he had been acting stupid and apologised, but i don't understand why he does it just when he's with me?

Sounds like he is just comfortable being himself when he is around you. I would think that's a good sign.

Maybe he is just comfortable with you but maybe its because he is nervous around you. maybe he's just acting goofy out of nervousness and really can't help himself. Even if it is annoying stop before you get mad and think of what made you two fall for each-other in the first place. If that fails well act goofy with him not only will he see first hand how it feels but you might even have fun. let me know how it goes.

It's probably nerves. People often say or do awkward things when tense. If he feels that you disapprove of how he's acting, it probably makes him more uncomfortable, so he's more tense, so more likely to act goofy...
It's kind of like people who start laughing during a funeral service and can't stop. They get so tense, and it has to come out somehow.
If he feels the need to apologise, then he's aware that you don't like it. He probably wants to please you, not screw things up, so there's a little tension there already, and when he acts goofy, knowing you don't approve/are embarrassed, it raises the level of his tension.
Try just shaking your head affectionately and laughing, and it'll probably pass faster. After all, you love him as he is, right?

Ah because he feels he can be himself around. Sorry kid-o you are just going to have live with it. If you really love someone you are going to have to take the bad with the good obviously. This is just an example of the bad/annoying thing you have to put up with. On something simple like this if you try to change him too much he will just end up resenting you. Adapt and he will adapt to you too. Soon the goofiness will lessen but never go away.

He may be nervous around you even though you have known each other for so long. Like sometimes if you talk about something serious with a boy he will want to counter-act the seriousness and he will act goofy. Like i said he may be nervous or sometimes intimadated around you. Atleast he apologized to you about it cos he knew he was acting weird.

Actually, you should take it as a compliment. He feels comfortable around you! You make him feel at ease, like he can be himself. Even if that means acting stupid sometimes. lol Believe me, everyone has their moments.

sweetie! Men and boy are so immature, it has nothing to do with you, it him....he cant help it! And if you really love him you will let him be him and accept it! if him acting "goofy" bothers you now, maybe you should rethink the relationship.

It's because he's comfortable around you and will loosen up and be himself.
It's a compliment actually and I think that you need to relax a little and stop being so judgemental.

maybe he is relaxed when around u and gets a little goofy , talk to him about it he will most likely change especially since he already appoligized ....
