In that price range we are talking about a point and shoot model. There are many many good ones out there, and what you need to look for is the most mega pixels you can get for your money. The higher the mega pixel, the better the resolution will be. I would also avoid any that do not have removable storage media as you do not want to be limited to x amount of pictures before you have to go home and download your images. I got an absolute no name 6 mega pixel on eBay for about 130, now that same camera is going for just over 200 as they sent me an email asking me if I might want to sell it back again now that the prices are up on them. (I don't.. I have a SLR ..digital single lens reflex.. that I use far more often than my point and shoot, but you never know when you might need that pocket camera)
You might find this blog of interest I think some of the earlier postings deal with camera choices http://photographmuse.blogspot.com/
This site usually has a variety of cameras for sale, as well as links down the left hand column to outlets that are usually having sales that are good deals.

but using eBay and a sniping service you can probably get an even better deal. I use this sniping service, and they have I think 10 free winning bids before they ask you for any money.https://www.ezsniper.com/list.php3
(that means you can keep bidding in your price range until you win 10 times before they will start charging you a very minimal amount to place your bets and keep you out of bidding wars.)

Start with the budget. This may seem backwards, but it's not. You can find a decent camera to match any amount of money you want to spend.

Next, find a friend who will help you learn how to use the camera. This "friend" could even be the clerk in your local photo shop. Buy the camera that your friend recommends so that they will be able to teach you how to use it.

After you know what you are doing and are ready for your next camera - and this will come sooner than you think - you will be in a position to make your own choice.

If you have some vague ideas about price and ddesired features, go to http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp and see what they select for you.

it really is definatly nicely worth making an investment in a first rate digital camera which will very last a at the same time as. i'd propose you spend round £2 hundred for a sturdy one. I have a Sony-Cybershot that fee me £250 and it really is impressive! in case you want to flow previous that value then Nikon ones are somewhat sturdy for pro images, or in case you don;t favor to spend that a lot you will get cameras from about £50 which will grant the products. i imagine it actually relies upon on how a lot you want your images. to keep the ideas an impressive digital camera is a ought to!
