I think the California Coast is beautiful and I want to visit a lighthouse while we are traveling from San Francisco to San Diego. We will be traveling in December with two kids.

I did a similar drive in reverse: LA to SF. One my way up, just north of San Simeon/Hearst Castle on PCH, I came upon a gorgeous lighthouse. Must've been close to Big Sur. It was the most glorious sunset I ever watched.
I love things like that, but I can only hope your kids will appreciate it. Seems like that sort of thing would bore them to tears.
