I'm going to give you the standard answer. If it hurts when you run, don't run.

Running is hard on the joints, especially if you are running on concrete or pavement. Try running on a track that's made for running to see if that helps. If not, you may end up having to condition via lower impact types of work outs.

As far as all the "you might have this" and "you might have that" answers, don't let them be your guide. If you are concerned, you need to speak with a physician about it. This is why they always say "consult a physician before starting any exercise program," to avoid issues like this and so that you and your physician are on the same page. You don't want to end up with severe arthritis because of your fitness routine.

Good luck to you. : )

If your knees are bothering you, you might want to change what you're doing before they get worse! If you're running and they hurt, you can bet they will keep hurting the more you run. Are both knees doing this? Running has alot of impact on the knees and back, and the knees hurting is very common. According to the latest research walking fast gives you the same result as running, so try this.
Do you have any ace bandages? Try wrapping your knees or knee in this when you're home and it will help alot. I know runners who sleep in them from time to time.
How is your food intake? Are you eating late? What are you eating?

A good pair of running shoes can help reduce the impact to your knees. You might try cutting back on how far you run and gradually increase your distance. You may also consider "POWER WALKING" instead of jogging it will put less pressure on your knees.

Hi,,, why are you starting out running 5 days a week,,,, are you planning on entering a marathon???

Take it easy, get some good running shoes that have air soles.. and maybe slow down some?? how far are you running?? and what kind of surface is it?? You may end up tearing your miniscus if you are not careful..

Good luck
