Why does being moral require a sense of responsibility?

Because if you are not willing to recognize the faults of your actions, you can not determine what is and itsn't immoral, as everything would be equally permissible.

If you have good morals you do take responsibility for your actions, words, the way you treat others.Being a person with good morals is in itself a responsibilty to stick by those morals in the face of controversy or ridicule.

We are all responsible for our actions, what is 'good' depends on the consequences of our actions therefore we must consider what responsibilities we might have before acting.

Morality is recognizing that there are consequences and responsibility for everything, and then respecting that.
