My cat does it when she gets REALLY desperate. It's hysterical to watch. She has to get almost all the way in the toilet. Truth be told, I've been tempted to push her. LOL. She will also get in the shower and lick the water of the curtain!

Cats and dogs will drink from any where, were the water is fairly fresh, given the toilet is flushed many times a day, it would be considered fresh (gorss NOT to us humans).
I might add my cat drinks from the loo too, and she flushes the toilet too. She is a manx and loves water, and she even washes her paws. lol
Solution is to close the toilet lid or the door, so kitty does not drink from the loo.

Sure they will drink from a toilet if they want to. You know you cannot control a cat, lol. Make sure you have no cleaners, etc. in the toilet though and keep the lid down if you don't want it to drink from there.

pets are just like people in that they have different personalities. I know alot of people that do things that aren't normal for me, but normal for them. maybe your cat thinks it's normal to drink out of the toilet. Also cats are very curious animals, maybe the cat is curious how the water is in there.

Yes, my three cats do that all the time. Well, one of them not so much...he had an incident where he fell in and got a bit drenched. But yes, cats drink from the toilet quite frequently.

Cats don't understand about the concept of a proper drinking bowl and will drink out of anything. My cats drink out of a glass of water on the nightstand (it started that they drank my water, but now I designate a glass especially for them) and one also drinks from the toilet.

Yep - totally normal. My cats drink from the toilet and the sink. (Anywhere the water is fresh and not sitting in a bowl) Weird animals...

Contrary to popular belief, a cat is a filthy animal. It gives the appearence of being clean by licking itself. It in fact does this to spread further marking scents. They belong strictly outside- inside cats ruin furniture, smell the house up and cause immune system problems. Wise up.

our cat does this. but we've tried water bowls, water cups . . . anything. she just knocks the damn thing over. but she'll drink from the toilet because she can't knock over the toilet (but if she could, she would!) it's kinda gross sounding but cats in nature would do worse. and LOL, i've also been tempted to push her in. but i don't. it's just strange when i have to move the cat from the rim of the toilet in order to pee.
