Iv'e heard the arguement all too many times that God is not real. People feel he isn't real for many strange reasons that always baffle me. Reasons like you:can't touch him, see him, feel him , hear him. All of these reason are based on tangibles. Think about this, without air we cannot sustain life, however we can't see, touch, smell, taste, or feel it. Does this make it any less real, or any less important to our survival. Just something to think about. Life as we know it is based on an "intangible". Is it that hard to believe that life was created by a "temporary intangible"?

Just so you know I do read responses. OK so because you can FEEL wind mean that I can't FEEL God? Have you ever gone to church, or not even that but just known someone who was miraculously cured from some disease or whose life was spared from a tragic accident. They will tell you that God is with them. They FEEL Him! Same thing as you feeling wind. How do you know that He doesn't exist if youv'e never given Him a chance. It's like someone never going outside and proclaiming that there was no such thing as wind because they have never felt it blow.

The air we breath is there. It can be shown, by science to be full of oxygen, a real chemical element. There is actual proof that the air is there even if we cant see it. God on the other hand, cant be seen or proven.

Next question!

Since when I can I not smell, feel, taste, and etc.air?
The wind blows, I feel air. When I walk down the street, I can smell various things from the air. When the air smells so saltyish that you can taste it...
Now, if we were talking about oxygen, which we more than likely were, it would be proper to use "oxygen" and not "air", since "air" is every gaseous like particle mixed in with a few other things.

More and more people are visual these days, so it isn't uncommon for some that they need to see things to believe it, and it doesn't make them wrong. Our senses teach us things, if you can't sense it in any way then how is it to say that it is real?

So, by saying "temporary intangible", are you saying that god is no more? Has god gone extinct as most things do?

The bottom line is that it shouldn't matter what you believe, and it isn't your choice to what the other person believes. Too bad some can't get over that.

Not that it matters that I'm answering this question because you're just going to pick an answer saying "I'm a believer!" or "Good question-lets see how those immoral atheists attempt to answer this one!" and ignore the actual answers you get.

But here is an answer. Okay, I can measure air, its about 21% oxygen (what we need to live) 78% nitrogen, and other gasses. I can measure how much is in a specific area, the pressure of that air, the weight of that air, etc. How about moving air? Air currents? Can I measure wind? Yeah. Do I know where air is? Yeah, within our atmosphere. Can you say anything of this for God. Yeah you can "feel" God in your heart, but can you feel him on your skin when you swipe into air? Nope. Can you see the papers blow off your desk when the air blows in your window? Yep. I doubt you're even reading this. Prove me wrong, submit details to your question saying you've read all this. If you don't, all will know you don't even bother with answers, all you want is to "make a point" even when you've been proved wrong.

Life is not bases on an "intangible", we've proved its there. I have yet to see, hear, smell, touch, or taste God for that matter (unless you count that wafer at Church that is the "body of Christ").

Edit:

Um, by feel, I mean feel as in touch, and not as in heart. Have you ever noticed that you can measure the speed of wind and that it can be recorded and observed, and the effects of wind can be clearly seen? Go ahead and say "the effects of God can be seen!" but can you provide any evidence that God did it other than "I think he did"? We can provide evidence that wind did something. Chew on that.

At least there is REAL proof of what the air is. If the wind blows, I do believe that means I can feel air... At least science can be used to prove it's there.

I'm a non-believer because 'God' doesn't fit into my lifestyle. He/She has never done anything for me and the bibles teaching drive me f'in insane at how close-minded and old fashioned it is. I've read into lots of religions and none of them fit with my life and my ideas.
I live my life day to day. I don't need 'God' to feel fulfilled, I'm busy enough and happy as is and I have plenty of love from friends and family. I would rather just keep living each day the way I do and not spend time on trivial things.

your fake god is nothing like real air. air can be seen in liquid form it is touched all the time and felt when the wind blows or when it is hot or cold and it is smelt all the time its just that since you are so used to the scent it doesnt register. and due to these facts air is tangible and therefore is known to exist, while your god has no proof other than what people say and what a book says but do you believe everyone who says that getting shot in the face wont kill you or that frankenstein actually happened no you dont...i think i proved my point

You can prove the existence of air, its component parts, its density, without any shadow of a doubt, to EVERYBODY. You can measure the wind, its speed and direction, such that EVERYONE can agree on those details. You cannot make me experience the god that you can feel in the same way I can make you experience the wind I can feel. If you can feel something that no-one else can, well, pleased for you, but it makes a mockery of your own analogy. If you want to make a comparison with something, ensure they are equivalent before you start. You appear to me to have done more to prove against your case than for it.

I don't believe in God because there is no proof. I HATE it when xtians say "Proof is all around you. Look at the trees and yada yada yada yada." That is NOT proof that God exists. There is scientic evidence to why we are here, and how we evolved, and how things grow etc etc.

I agree with you that saying that you can't feel it isn't a good arguement but using air as a comeback doesn't prove anything. If you want people to believe - come out with some HARD tangible proof that he exists.

that argument is completely invalid...the difference between air and god is we can prove air does exist through science and we can't do that for god. the theory is based on absolutely nothing but the human mind reflecting in on itself and thinking it needs a creator, but, if you think about it hard enough you will notice it is completely irrational theory just as valid as saying I, myself created the world then wiped my memory and put myself in human form...Kind of ridiculous to you, huh? Now you know how atheists feel all the time when people try to explain god with broken logic.

Why do you believe he exists? A personal relationship with him, does he talk to you? I am unable to believe in something my mind rejects as ludicrous. I made no choice to be an atheist, and your listed arguments are also nothing I have ever heard an atheist say.

I was born an atheist, and I am still unable (not unwilling, but actually unable) to believe in something I naturally reject as a false idea. You could never convince me that I was blind, trying to convince me that a god exists is the same thing, just an impossibility.

This argument comes up over and over again. Right, air can't be seen, smelled, or tasted but still we know it's there. We can weigh it, test the pressure of it, determine the different properties of it, test its purity, and a lot of other things.
What can we do with your God ? There is absolutely no evidence at all, only religious superstition.
